Me and my sons, well 2 of them (13 on sun  and 4 1/2) have Nintendo DS's and we love them!

I found the PSP very expensive personally, and you can at least use Game Boy Advance games on the DS aswell as DS games, whereas the PSP, you have to buy PSP games, which, like the new DS ones, can work out pretty costly.

My 9 year old has a PSP and my 6 year old a DS Lite. The games for the PSP are dearer than gameboy or DS games. Also there is not a great variety of PSP games for that age group. She has 2 games, Crash something and Pirates of the Caribbean. SO I would go for the Nintendo as the game choice is better.

I don't have either, but the main difference besides the game choice is the ability to play music. PSP plays music, so if your daughter has an Ipod or anything then I would get the DS, and the same if she is not a great fan of it.

my daughter is 8 she has a pink DS lite and she loves it. The good thing about it is that you can take any where with you. I've ordered her a new nintendo wii for Christmas. If she has her heart set on a Playstation maybe you should wait until after the year when the PS3 comes out

my 12 yr old daughter got a psp last christmas and basically after 6months of waiting for suitable games for girls for it we sold it on ebay and got a nintendo ds instead, which she loves and all her friends have them too.
so i would definitely suggest a nintendo ds for a 12yr old girl

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all so much for helping me with this, after some consideration i have decided that the DS will be better for her.

I went around the shops and they have some really good offers on at the moment.

i also had a good look at the games that are available and there are far more for her to choose from with the DS then with the PSP.

Again thanks chaps.:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

A PSP is a playstation portable, not a playstation 2.

I know! Some people have more money than sense!

I have a Gamecube but since a lot of the games come out on PS2 as well, I've been getting them for that, and I've not got that many games for the GC. So I think I'll just sell that and get the Wii, because you can play GC games on that, too.
Since they are so hard to get hold of, there aren't really any reviews for it, and I'm gonna wait for those, because, for all I know, it isn't that good anyway. I'm just kinda worried that Nintendo are going to concentrate on the use of the remote, and not the actual game play, so the games will be too samey and dull after a while.
Some annoying people have put reviews on Amazon, and all they say is that they can't wait for it to come! Why are they even wasting their time?!
I want a PS3, too, but I'm gonna wait for a while. ATM, they are more than £500!! That is a ridiculous amount to spend on a games console!
I have a PSP, which I love, but Sony really, REALLY needs to bring out a wider variety of games. I only have 3 games for it, which is such a shame.
And I've asked for a NDS for Christmas. :D

I have to agree with you and at £179.99 is not a bad price compared to what they are going to charge for PS3!
