The eleven contestants taking part in the next series of Soapstar Superstar have been revealed by ITV.
Coronation Street will be represented by Antony Cotton (Sean Tully), Tupele Dorgu (Kelly Crabtree) and Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby), while Emmerdale stars Hayley Tamaddon (Delilah Dingle), Ben Freeman (Scott Windsor), Verity Rushworth (Donna Windsor-Dingle) and Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe) will also be joining the contest.
Stars of Australia's two main soaps have also agreed to join in the fun; Neighbours actor Alan Fletcher, who plays Karl Kennedy, and Home and Away's Mark Furze (Ric Dalby).
Former EastEnders star Elaine Lordan and Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson have also signed up for the show.
Soapstar Superstar returns in the New Year with new host Zoe Ball, who will be taking over from Fern Britton and Ben Shephard.

Im glad you asked that question, because its exactly what I was wondering too! :hmm:  Phew!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one then! Its like when you're at school/college/work and you don't want to ask the question in case you are the only one that doesn't know and you sound really thick asking the question, but I can just blame my age and having 3 kids now!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
it's the one where the soapstars became singers for 2 weeks, with Cilla Black as the judge...don't you remember Richard Fleesman winning it?

nope Lucy Benjamin won that... Soapstar Superstar was on in January and was on at the same time as Just The Two Of Us on BBC1.

Home and Away's Mark Furze he is hot can't wait to see him singing. He was in the Australian version of Just the Two of Us. Does this mean he is leaving H&A or taking time off? I think him and Alan Fletcher have a disadvantage since all the others are from British Soaps. I don't know why they should put ex soap stars in it i prefer it was all current soapstars. Well i'm supporting Mark all the way.
so basically you're looking at a celebrity x-factor???
so basically you're looking at a celebrity x-factor??? Sounds very much like the same thing to me, except with Soapstars in it rather than "celebs"...
Would that sound about right ??
yeah, but soapstar superstar was first i think.

Hollyoaks: In The City actor Leon Lopez is to replace Ben Freeman in the Soapstar Superstar lineup.
Lopez - who played Tank Top in the now-axed (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds40122.html) E4 Hollyoaks spin-off - will join the remaining ten after Emmerdale's Ben Freeman sidelined (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds40658.html) the programme in order to fight legal proceedings in Barbados.
"I am really excited and am looking forward to getting on the stage and performing," said Lopez. "I’m sure the other contestants are all really talented, but I am looking forward to the competition and would be lying if I said I didn’t want to win!"
Executive producer Rachel Ashdown added: “Like all our soap stars Leon has a natural singing ability. With these eleven stars this year, it really is anyone’s prize to win. People will know Leon from Hollyoaks in the City and Brookside before that, and just like our other stars, he has a great voice.”
Lopez played Brookside's Jerome Johnson for four years between 1998 and 2002.
Soapstar Superstar begins Friday, January 5 at 9pm on ITV1

He has already got records out and stuff, he is on my Space, with his band or something.
good replacement. not. Did they really need a replacment, they could have just done it without him.

If he has got records released already should he really be allowed to enter the competition at all. Isn't that given him an unfair advantage over the other celebrities

well it's not like they're competing for a recording contract or anything. you could say Alan Fletcher has an adventage as he's been touring with his band for ages. i imagine a lot of them have had some professional singing experience, whether it be in musicals or stuff like that.
to be quite honest, i think the singing only really matters near to the end of the compettiton. At forst it is just the popular ones who people know that stay in. Therefore the hollyoaks in the city dude wont be in it for that long as people dont know him.

I think he'll be there for a while, he is quite popular. And it's not the only show he has been in.
ive never heard of him you see. Ill have to look him up and see if i recognise him. But i mean last year Lee Otway was really good but he didnt stay as it got to the stage where the majority were from Corrie as thats the most popular soap/

Eww, i couldn't stand his singing, and his personally was soooooo annoying.
really, i thought he was really good. I suppose its all down to taste. I couldnt stick Richard fleeshman. And he went and won it. I think it will be a tough act to follow. the only thing i done like in these sorts of programmes is the judges are far to harsh, its the same with Strictly come dancing, Just the two of us etc. There not professionals and dont deserve some of the comments given.

I loved Richard, thought he was amazing throughout the whole show, his voice was really easy listening.
And with the judges, that's what they are there for, if it wa a really compettion they would be much harder. Most of it is for entertainment value. They only thing i never really like is when they argue between themselves, or they make personal comments to the performers
it was soap star superstar last year when one of them made a remark about Wendi Peters weight. I thought that was toatally out of order. It was a bit of the show i really disliked.

I remember watching this last year, it was quite enjoyable actually. May give it a look this year too, i am quite shocked it has been given another series to be honest, i always thought it wasn't that popular.
i think it was more popular than celebrity X factor which i dont think has been commissioned for another series. That was the one with Rebecca Loos. Theres so many these days its hard to keep up with whats what. I assume this will be out at the same time as just the two of us.
i think it was more popular than celebrity X factor which i dont think has been commissioned for another series. Yeh I think it was, celeb X factor wasnt hat good at all, but I think this was great, and the way they did it was different too.
