Top Of The Pops will make a Christmas comeback in a one-off special.

The classic chart music programme - axed in June after 42 years on air - will return in the form of an hour-long show on Christmas Day, according to The Sun. Fearne Cotton will reportedly be on presenting duties.

In its heyday, Top Of The Pops used to attract audiences of around 15 million in the 1970s. But viewers began to dwindle in the late '90s, prompting various attempts to both relaunch and reschedule the show. A move to BBC2 in Spring 2005 proved unsuccessful, with the last weekly show being transmitted on 30th July 2006.
