Sean and Jean incest?!

I know we've got a Stacey/Bradley thread, but I thought there might be quite a few people who just wanted to discuss this. I think it's interesting, and it's kind of a separate topic.

I found Jean really weird tonight, weirder than usual. The scene in the bathroom was very up close and personal, on her part. It's obvious that Sean sees his mum as some kind of threat. He almost seemed scared of her. When he told her that he left because of her, she reacted in a very unexpected way. She looked directly at him and said 'no you didn't'. I thought she would be upset or get angry, but her tone was very calm. I found it quite chilling! I don't know about anyone else?!

Watching it a second time, it didn't feel as shocking. But the first time I saw it, I felt very voyeuristic and I was cringing.

It would be a fantastic storyline!

What ever has gone on its clear stacey doesnt know anything about it, and sean wants it to stay that way. sean wants to protect stacey from what ever has gone on in the past as you could see when he walked out of the tube

This is really starnge cos after the episode my dad was like have yo not figured it out yet? I just thought it was Jean bing really werid but he said that she used to absue him and I just felt really confused, my dad doesnt even like eastenders and when he started going on how obvious it was i felt so stupid.

It probably is abuse but we just think of it as incest, becuase its with blood relatives.

I can see where you are coming from with this..the scene on Thursday night with Jean and Sean was a very weird one...there was just a weird presence between them both and i didn't expect Jean to react the way she did...i thought she would be upset but she didn't seem or act like that at all and when Stacey came into the bathroom, her tone changed as well as Sean's as if everything was ok, but it seemed like nothing was ok...also we saw Sean breaking down on the way back, we've never seen Sean like this before and i think he was breaking down over seeing Jean again...i think something did go on between them both...possibly abuse...or maybe even incest like you have said but i can't really imagine that personally! But there are so many secrets in this storyline that which must be revealed...i just hope EE don't dissapoint!

Yeah I think incest is 2 willing parties, like you said, but I just put it cause it sounded more attracting for the thread. Plus I think they may have been sleeping together or being intimate for a while. It seemed like Jean couldn't comprehend the fact that Sean would leave cause of him.

I'm getting the feeling that Sean was a naive kid that didn't realise what was happening with his mum was wrong, but it might have gone too far one night and he ran for it.

Long shot, but how much age difference is between Sean and Stacey? Maybe if she is much younger than him, he might have abused her, but she's to young to remember? That might be why Jean said 'No you didn't' When he said he left because of her? :hmm: That couls also explain why Jean kept saying Sean was dead, as that's the kind of thing you don't want from your son, abusing your own sister. But then I guess, however young you are, you'd always remember getting abused? Just trying to cover all angles here :hmm:

I'm not sure if Jean would actually try it on with Bradley..it could be a possibilty but i think Jean is just happy for Stacey as in Jean's opinion, Stacey has found a nice lovely guy to be with..i just think Jean is happy for both Stacey and Bradley and that Jean is just confident that Stacey will be happy with Bradley because Bradley is such a nice, lovely guy.

I found Thursday episode very weird Sean actually seemed scared of his mum he couldn't stand the thought of her touching him or being in the same room as her it was like I dunno but it was weird
I would definately put money on some kind of abuse going on what I don't know but it will be interesting to see why Sean is the way he is

Feeling sorry for Sean after that episode. If the abuse did happen, it must have been really difficult for him having nobody to turn to. Stacey was only 11 when he left, too young to talk to. Not sure what his dad was like, or if he knew, but poor thing anyway!

I agree the moment he made Stacey leave and he burst into tears I felt so sorry for him whatever happened he hasn't spoke about it ever and he's been carrying this weight around for years and now he's got this huge chip on his shoulder with good reason

I love to jean to try it on with bradley if she did abuse sean as well as i would love to hear stacey and sean reaction to abuse bradley as jean seems to have a thing for young boys as when bradley came to see her for the first time, she did not want to leave and get her medication as she wanted to be around bradley but stacey forced her to get her medication as jean did not want to leave as i think jean fancies him and i think stacey knows this as well.

Also i wonder how max and tanya would react to her trying to abuse bradley, especially max as he could see her as a women who likes young boys especially his son and tanya reaction would probably be shocked as well as tanya had a affair with sean and tanya might think jean is after her stepson and jean's family seem to have a obession for max and tanya's side of the family as it is always happening and i wonder what stacey reaction would be as well to this and trying to abuse her boyfriend or hitting on him, what do you think.

Yeah I know. He is a lot like Dennis mind isn't he?! I know we shouldn't really compare but you can't help feeling that they are trying to recreate what they had with him. Or do the things with Sean that they didn't have chance to do with Dennis.

Is there not the possibility Sean was abused by his Dad and Jean knew about it but did nothing to stop it which is why Sean is cold and bitter towards her. If Jean had been Sean's abuser would he really have risked leaving Stacey with her when he disappeared?

I think Jean could well have thought of Sean as a replacement for her husband. Sick! I don't think she would have been attracted to Stacey in that way.

That's an extremely interesting point you've just raised there! The way he is with Stacey is totally different to how he treats everyone else and he can never lie to her (the exception being about Al when he first came to the Square)- where as he has no problem lying to everyone else

Rob played the role of sean slater perfectly especially in the extremely emotinal scence with his Mum Jean. It was so powerful but heartbreaign too. They have hurt each other so much and when Sean broke down I cried my heart out.

I think Sean will become a very interesting EE character and he has cute dimples when he smiles too and i love the way he is protective of Stacey...
