Editing music files on pc

I want to transfer a song from my pc to my phone so I can use it as a ring tone...but I'm not sure which programme to use to cut the section I want to use....

Has anyone done this?? Got any ideas...? I'll just do entire song if not, but just wanted the main chorus really .

What if you played it on your computer and used a voice recorder and set it up to record what it hears then save it like that?

Or windows movie maker maybe? I shall test that see if it works and get back to you :)
