I agree. The whole thing now looks like some tacky Z list award show. ITV should start sharing the event with the Beeb maybe then it might short out some decent category's.

 This is not good we're agreeing:lol: :p

Seriously though they are just becoming one big joke. The catergories and nominations are just getting worse, most of the decent shows/programmes are left out along with other decent actors/actresses and I don't just mean those who appear in serial dramas.

That's not a bad idea of yours for ITV and BBC to do a joint award show , although I have to admit I am mostly an ITV viewer, that way it would be fairer as all viewers would be included with an all round and wider choice. They seem to be catering for the "Younger" viewer these days and not taking the "older" viewer into consideration. To make it fair they should have an equal selection for both, because at the end of the day an "older" viewers view and choice is different from that of a younger viewer.

They really dont have anyone else do they:confused: Still I suppose we should be grateful. If Bowtie Frank had appeared for a episode or two he may have been the nominee

Well to be fair Ross did have that army show on in the summer so its not just EastEnders he will be up for.

I don't agree he should win though. David Tennant should and would.

I really want Corrie to win best soap. It has to this year, while I'll agree Emmerdale had a much stronger summer, vote for them is a vote lost and both Corrie and EE haven't been that good this year but Corrie has just about been better.

That is ridiculous! Ross Kemp for Best Actor. Oh dear oh dear. These "awards" aren't awards anymore, and should no longer exist.

Lacey Turner is very good and one of the best young actresses in soap. Jim Shelley also agrees and he isn't one to pass out praise to the undeserving.

If you want bad look at Chris Fountain & Andrew Moss.

If they win and I suspect at least one will, no one will take these things seriously anymore.

Why do you think they will win i dont think they will, people who vote usually go for non soap stars. The only thing hollyoaks deserves i Serial drama due to the cracking year it has had. It wont but it should. If it was taken seriously and had a panal judging then they might be worth watching.

Lacey Turner is very good and one of the best young actresses in soap. . She may or may not be one of the best YOUNG actresses in soap. That is not what the award is for. There are literally dozens of much superior actresses but then I suppose because Lacey is flavour of the month she was nominated

It's never worked like that, why isn't Dot on best actress every year when every scene she is in is faultless? Why Bradley as best newcomer when they could have had someone from the Fox's or the new Brannings?!

The soap wants to win the awards so it puts forward the names of people who are in the public consciousness. When the long list was being voted on Stacey and Bradley were getting together and it was a popular storyline so it makes sense for Eastenders to put their name in, same for Grant he was in the show and he is a well known name.

I really want Lacey to win best actress but I think that Billie will win there might be a country of Eastenders fans but there is a world of Dr Who fans!

I think you have hit the nail on the head there. In EE there are at least ten others who are far better than Lacey. June Brown is 100 times better, even Wendy Richards and Pam St. Clement are much better but because they dont have the popular:rolleyes: vote they dont get nominated. Its the same with Corrie and the atrocious Kate Ford. Emmerdale and Patsy Kens*it or Roxanne Pallet

Bradley in EE is not a new comer either plus I though there were more soap than 4.. where is Home & Away who this year has been fantastic. Excellent storylines and great actors.. Flynn's Death deserves an award

Mmmmm........its like Inside Soap meets the BAFTAs awards!!!! I wonder who will be hosting the awards this year? :hmm: The Chuckle Brothers or if they have other commitments..Dick and Judy/Dick and Dom.

I must say Im pleased Lacey Turner is up for an award as I do think she has been a pretty good and consistent actress in Enders (one of the few consistent things in Enders really), but agree that there are other actresses on the show who are also good, if not better ,and thus deserve to be up for best actress.....such as the legend that is June Brown

Though I dont think old timers Wendy Richards deserve to be up for the award, (maybe next year she could be in the running for best exit?!) as her acting abilities mainly consist, these days, of walking around with a face like a slapped **** and sporting a lovely shade of orange (which always reminds me of a particularly nasty self tan accident, I had a few months ago). Roll on her departure.....:cheer:

Also, I think its a total joke that Ross Kemp is up for best actor after only being back in Enders for the briefest time and his acting abilities consisted of having a permanent demented grin on his face!

Mr Humphries

If you want bad look at Chris Fountain & Andrew Moss. Now hold your horses! :nono: I agree about Andrew Moss, he is a poor actor but as for Chris Fountain he's actually quite good and one of the decent actors in Soap.

Don't just go picking on Hollyoaks as a way of defending your argument because it's not fair. :)

maybe to make things fair they should stop people voting online.maybe deliver a vote slip via the post.1 per household, like all the junk mail we get, maybe then anyone that won would have won fair and square and it would give a clear indicator of who and what show is more popular, cos at the moment anyone can vote as many times as they wish which means that the awards arn't worth a toss

Rovers Return
01-11-2006, 07:37
You can't vote as many times as you like. At least not by online voting. Once voting closes there is an IP checker in place to make sure no multiple voting has taken place. If they do find the same IP more than once all votes from that address are disregarded.

Thats the only way internet voting is allowed and it stops cheating. I'm gutted Eastenders has won soap but you can't blame tweenies because Catherine Tate who is highly popular with the chavy teens lost out to Little Britian.

Mr Humphries

Some people have far too much time on their hands to be coming up with excuses like that.

anyone read the sun online today, apparently corrie stars walked out and snubbed the after party of the second year running, they are apparently fuming at ee winning especially after this year they got their worst ratings ever, they are blaming it on text voting, they are probably right ,but spitting their dummys out cos they didn't win dosn't exactly make the public want to vote for them next time,i personally have sympathy for them but think they are actually putting people off voting for them next time with their childish behaviour

FUMING Coronation Street stars snubbed the National TV Awards party for the second year running after losing out to EastEnders.

Cast members of the ITV1 soap were more bitter than The Rovers’ finest ale when they failed to pick up the Most Popular Serial Drama gong.

And top ITV execs were so peeved that they stormed out of their posh VIP boxes at London’s Royal Albert Hall in protest.

An ITV source said: “There was no way we were going to sit and clap for a show that’s won something that’s rightfully ours.

“EastEnders won after a year when they sank to ratings of just 3.7million. We just walked out into the corridor when EastEnders went up on stage — and cracked open another bottle of bubbly.”

The source added: “It’s just upsetting as EastEnders has a younger audience and they vote by text — while Corrie’s audience are a bit older and don’t really get to grips with that.”

The Sun told last year how Corrie’s cast left the after-show party to attend their own do — smarting at losing out to EastEnders.

This year, show stars including Tina O’Brien Ryan Thomas, Richard Fleeshman, Kym Ryder, Wendi Peters, Anthony Cotton, Jennie McAlpine, Michael LeVell, Helen Flanagan and Jack P Shepherd, had travelled from Manchester for the bash.

They were joined by Sue Cleaver, Tupele Dorgu, Alison King, Andrew Whyment, Sam Robertson and Nikki Patel — nominated for Most Popular Newcomer — at Tuesday night’s ceremony.

Afterwards, only Tina and Ryan, plus Richard and his girlfriend — Emmerdale babe Roxanne Pallett — went to the party at the Royal College of Art.

But they stayed for just a few minutes then joined the rest of their pals back at a hotel for their own private drinks bash.

Meanwhile, EastEnders stars, including Barbara Windsor, Perry Fenwick, Phil Daniels, and Kara Tointon stayed on to celebrate at the party. An EastEnders insider said: “All our lot stayed on till the party finished at 2.30am — then most of them went clubbing.”

It really annoys me when Corrie get all like this! I know that EastEnders havnt had the best year but like the title said its not 'Best' but 'Most Popular' and to be fair EastEnders is probably the most popular out of the 4 which were nominated and have fans of all different ages. To be honest though i really though Hollyoaks deserved it but like i said its not the Most Popular one is it! So i hadnt expected it to win. Im a bit annoyed about Lacey not winning Most Popular Actress because i think she deserved it a lot more than Billie Piper! I knew that Charlie would win Best Newcomer. I mean it was kinda obvious, hes already one BSA, ISA, TVQuick and Choice and now an NTA!

I'm not EE's greatest fan at the mo but it's voted for by the viewers and you can't change it if I was gonna pick a winner it would be Hollyoaks they've had a fab year

For best actress Lacey Turner should have got it but that's just my opinion

Even in this day and age it takes a while to get to Manchester from London. Some probably had to go to work the next day. I expect there were actually a few Corrie stars who stayed on afterwards in London and did their own thing.

As you should know, do not believe anything you read in the papers. There's a difference between hearing the truth, and believing what you WANT to hear. You seem to have fallen into that trap, which is the easiest trick in the book.
