Back from suspension, Superintendent John Heaton (DANIEL FLYNN) warns PC Yvonne Hemmingway (MICHELE AUSTIN) to get a result by doing it by the book. She is paired with PC Honey Harman (KIM TIDDY) and they are called to a doctor’s surgery to investigate a break-in. The officers question dishy Doctor Andrew Wilder (GRANT MASTERS) and receptionist, Shona Smith (JOY BLAKEMAN), and discover that the computers and cash have been stolen. PCs Tony Stamp (GRAHAM COLE) and Reg Hollis (JEFF STEWART) tell Yvonne and Honey that a couple of the stolen computers have been found at a local dealer shop and gives them the name ‘Rowan’ as the seller. Yvonne and Honey find Rowan’s hideout, only to find Billy Aldridge (ADAM DEACON) there with boxes of surgery sample drugs. When Billy insists he found the drugs, Yvonne and Honey return to question Dr Wilder wondering why he hadn’t reported them as missing. The PCs are surprised when Shona admits to breaking and entering insisting she needed the money. But when the receptionists’ statement shows anomalies, Yvonne and Honey find themselves running around in circles. Shona is obviously covering for someone, but who?
Frank Tomlinson (ANTONY BOOTH), an elderly ex-serviceman talks to DC Terry Perkins (BRUCE BYRON) about his friend who is being fleeced by a cowboy builder. PCs Emma Keane (MELANIE GUTTERIDGE) and Will Fletcher (GARY LUCY) later arrest Frank for hassling builder, David Bolton (HARRY MILLER), and discover that Frank’s friend, Marlene (HILARY SESTA) is being blackmailed by Bolton. Will and Emma enlist Terry’s help and together hatch a plan to bring the builder down before Frank takes matters into his own hands.
After work, just before Emma leaves to go on her hen night, Will reminds her that he thinks she is rushing into marrying Matt Hinckley (MARK DEXTER) and says he still cares for her. Will moves closer to kiss Emma and, appalled, she turns and walks away. At the pub, Honey tries her best not to laugh at PC Leela Kapoor (SEEMA BOWRI) who has dressed up as a school girl for Emma’s hen night and the alcohol starts to flow. Emma asks Honey if she thinks that a groom should know everything there is to know about his bride before the wedding. Before giving an answer, Emma is soon on her mobile and Matt turns up shortly after. Drunk and racked with guilt, Emma comes clean and admits to Matt that she slept with Will. She tells her fiancé that it was only once and didn’t mean anything. Matt storms out of the pub leaving Emma in tears. A morose Will has a less than exciting night in another bar listening to PC Tony Stamp (GRAHAM COLE) and PC Reg Hollis (JEFF STEWART) bickering. But shortly after leaving the pub, Will is attacked by mystery assailants and severely beaten up…

Undercover cop DC Zain Nadir (TJ RAMINI) leaves Kristen Shaw (CHRISTINE STEPHEN-DALY) in his bed and heads to the cemetery to leave flowers at the grave of his younger sister who died of a drugs overdose ten years earlier. In order to maintain his cover, Zain lies to Kristen and tells her that his sister, Jessica, was killed in a car accident. At the cemetery, Zain bumps into his mother who says she would like to see more of him now and again. Troubled, Zain agrees to visit more and leaves for work.
Back at Sun Hill, Sergeant Smithy (ALEX WALKINSHAW) tells battered and bruised PC Will Fletcher (GARY LUCY) to give DC Terry Perkins (BRUCE BYRON) a statement about last night’s events before taking on desk duties for the day. Will explains to Terry that he was beaten up as he left the pub and remembers his warrant card being taken from him. PC Honey Harman (KIM TIDDY) tells a suspicious Will that at the hen night last night, PC Emma Keane (MELANIE GUTTERIDGE) told fiancé, Matt (MARK DEXTER), about sleeping with him. Convinced that Matt is behind his attack, Will heads off to Emma’s house to try and persuade her not to marry him. Seeing leather-clad Will speed past on his motorbike, PCs Tony Stamp (GRAHAM COLE) and Reg Hollis (JEFF STEWART) follow him. They are forced to arrest Will when he lands a punch on Matt’s jaw during his heart to heart with Emma. Smithy is stunned when Will is brought into custody and Matt finally agrees to drop the charges so he can get on with his day and marry Emma. Terry continues his investigation into Matt and eventually finds evidence that he did ask two mates to beat Will. Terry passes the information onto Will who makes his way to the church…

At the surgery, Wilder is shocked at the mention of a sexual allegation and admits that a patient came to him to talk about underage sex. Yvonne is shocked when Zain handles the situation aggressively and even though Wilder turns up a Sun Hill to make a formal complaint, Yvonne and Zain push harder, certain that he is a guilty man. But will Yvonne’s result convince Heaton she is right for the Sergeants post?
