What a great return for Dr Ed Fitzgerald last night! A welcome return for the original psychologist - it would just be great if it was for longer (is there a new series in the offing or was it just a one off? Anyone know??)
Of course the only downside is that you know "who dunnit" from the start, but when he turned out to be a police officer, I was surprised to say the least. Looked like the mother had a lucky escape though as if that other officer hadn't turned up for shift changeover I think she would have been next.
In some respects though, I did think 2 hrs was too long and probably an hour and a half would have been better, but thoroughly enjoyable all the same and good to see Fitz back on our screens. Well written again by Jimmy McGovern although at times there did seem to be a message regarding the war on "terror" included within (a bit like Richard Curtis with his Vicar of Dibley message regarding poverty).
However it did show truth about how since 9/11 occurred everything else has been put into insignificance which it shouldn't be.
Really enjoyed it though.
