hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows anything about how a payroll system works???
i know this sounds a srtrange question but let me explain................

at my place of work i get paid 4 weekly, i got paid 2 weeks ago but only got paid for 3 weeeks (it was ment to be for 4) it turns out that our tills had not polled so the info had not got to payroll, so after a lot of tooing and frowing we managed to convince our manager to call our district manager to see if we could get our weeks money (that we had worked jolly hard for!!) her first response was 'have they spent 3 weeks pay already'!!! (bear in mind mee and the girl i work with are single working mums!!) after a lot of pushing we got her to call payroll and we got told we would get paid this wednesday. so on wed we cheked our bank accounts and they had paid us, but only 60% of the amount they had owed us!!! we were fuming!! and were told by our manager we should be grateful that we got that!! i was now fuming even more!!! why should we be grateful for money we should have been paid nearly 2 weeks ago!!! ( sorrry this is going on a bit....nearly fininshed!!)
i have had enough and am palnning to quit, i have worked there for 4 years and i am really cross and upset!!!

just wondering what any of you guys think of how we have beeen treated, its not like i work for a small company, its a country wide one!!(i am not going to say witch one though!!)

cheers guys!!!!

Unfortunately there are some companies that are like this - very blase about rectifying problems - the worse thing is that they'd soon take the money out of your wages the following month if they'd overpaid you, yet they don't act fast when its the other way round.

I think they have to sort it by the next pay date though and aren't obliged to do anything prior to that date (although the attitude they displayed wasn't exactly brilliant was it?!)

Willow - that all sounds horrendous!

I have never had a problem like that in all my working life.

In my job I approve the finance for new employees, and if the paperwork is too late for the normal payroll then salaries usually put through a salary adjustment and it is sorted out officially the next month.
