Things To Do - Tuesday 19th September

George finds it hard to let go on Bracken's first day of nursery, especially as Ronnie seems so detached. She makes herself feel better by watching Bracken on the nursery cam. She's angry at Ronnie's lack of feelings when he calls her to check she's not glued to the nursery cam, but then sees Ronnie visiting Bracken on screen, and realises he misses her just as much, but won't admit it.

Julia speaks to Jimmi about his Dad. Jimmi tells her that Alun didn't accept one thing as he genuinely doesn't seem to believe that what he did was wrong. Julia suggests there may still be the possibility of reconciliation, but Jimmi insists that won't happen, and that he feels able to move on now he has confronted him.

Joe tries to talk to Emily about Nick, but Emily gets angry and storms out. Joe tries to look up Emily's notes on the computer, but Nick has purposefully not entered any details. Desperate, he tries to look at Emily's paper notes, but Michelle catches him and insists Emily is just winding him up and will talk to him if there is anything seriously wrong. Joe puts the notes back, but instead of going home, stays alone at the Mill working late.

Meanwhile, Julia finds herself attracted to plumber Danny who is also separated, and agrees to a lunch date. Later, Danny sees Greg for a check up. Greg asks about his treatment, and mentions that Danny's wife has been in touch trying to find him, but Danny insists on patient confidentiality. Julia speaks to Greg about Danny, asking for information. Greg won't divulge anything medical, but does warn Julia to be careful, unsettling her.

At lunch, Julia gets Danny to admit that he was diagnosed with an inoperable primary brain stem tumour 2 months ago, and wanting to save his wife and daughter from the pain of watching him die, he simply disappeared. Julia tries to make him realise how confused his family must be, but Danny insists he watched his father die of cancer, and this is the best way. Later, Julia talks to him again and makes him admit he misses his family and that this is upsetting everyone. Danny eventually agrees to talk to his wife.

Homecoming - Thursday 21st September

Joe receives the Decree nisi, upsetting Emily who admits she hoped her parents would get together. Angry, she tells Joe she hates Letherbridge, and hates living with him as he is a complete stranger to her. Joe, angry, tells her to find somewhere else to live.
Once Joe is back at work, Emily packs her bags and leaves, but having no friends to call on, ends up on Nick's doorstep.

Meanwhile, oblivious to Emily having left home, Joe goes for several drinks with Michelle, who convinces him not to confront Emily til the morning. Joe gets drunk, and misinterprets Michelle's kindness as an opportunity to kiss her - he is left mortified as Michelle pushes him away and makes her escape.

Meanwhile, Linda and Randy Larchmont are con artists who work their way into vulnerable people's lives by pretending to be long lost American relatives. They pick on elderly bachelor Benjamin Larchmont, who falls for their story and invites them around. They do some digging and note down his bank details, before agreeing to visit again the next day, stealing his back door keys on the way out. Later, at his hotel, Randy suffers an angina attack, and having run out of medication, has no choice but to ask the hotel to make him an appointment at The Mill as a temporary resident, keeping up his American cover.

Nick becomes suspicious when Randy slips up on a couple of points, and does some investigating, discovering his American doctor does not exist. Meanwhile, Linda goes back to Benjamin's house to steal a credit card, but has no choice but to abandon the plan and come to the rescue when Benjamin falls off a ladder. She sends Benjamin to The Mill before making her escape. Nick sees Benjamin, and becomes more suspicious when details Benjamin has on the Larchmonts, don't match those Randy gave the Mill. Nick calls DS Watkins, who confirms the Larchmonts are known con artists who use disguises, and asks Nick to accompany him to their hotel to try to identify them. They miss the Larchmonts who have already scarpered, but Nick finds Randy's empty prescription bottle, with his real details on the label. Randy and Linda arrive home to find the local police waiting for them.

Access Denied - Friday 22nd September

Joe wakes up to find an answerphone message from Nick, saying that Emily has spent the night at Nick's. Furious, he storms round to find Emily playing on Joe's fears. Fed up with being used, Nick tells them to sort out their problems, and leaves them to it. Joe and Emily talk, and Joe asks if she would rather live with her Mum, but Emily admits her Mum has abandoned her, and that she has been pretending to speak to her on the phone. Joe reassures Emily that her Mum is just busy with her new life, and they promise to make more of an effort with each other from now on.

Jimmi gets a visit from his father's fiance, who tries to convince him to attend the wedding, saying Alun has told her everything. Jimmi however realises she has been given a watered down version, and is tempted to tell Carol the full extent of Alun's abuse, but liking the woman, he decides at the last minute not to ruin her plans. He does however insist he won't be at the wedding and that his relationship with his father is in the past. Carol accepts this, but leaves Jimmi shocked and concerned when she reveals in passing that she has an 8 year old son.

Meanwhile, Derek and Audrey Dennison enlist Ronnie's help when their daughter in law refuses to let them see their grandson, in an attempt to punish their son for leaving her. Ronnie warns them against going through the courts as this could backfire, and be costly.
Meanwhile, Angie sees George, who confirms that Angie will need to go into hospital for an operation, and will be unable to care for her son while she recovers. Angie refuses to ask for Derek and Audrey's help, despite the only alternative being foster care.

At lunch, Ronnie overhears George arranging temporary foster care for Angie. When Derek and Audrey later instruct Ronnie to start legal action, he finds himself admitting what he heard, and suggesting they wait and see what happens with Angie. Derek agrees to hold tight, but Audrey can't wait and visits Angie, offering her help.

Furious, Angie confronts George and Ronnie, accusing them of sharing information. George is furious, but Ronnie manages to talk to Angie, apologising and making her realise that it is in Charlie's best interests to let Derek and Audrey help, as she is punishing everyone except her ex husband. Angie eventually agrees to let her parents in law see Charlie, who has clearly missed them too.
