Another new doctor is heading for the Square. Dr May Wright, played by Amanda Drew, makes her debut on Monday, September 25 when Dot has cross words with her, not realising who she actually is!

The medical profession is nothing new to Amanda as she played a doctor in an episode of No Angels back in 2004. I wonder if former No Angels star Jo Joyner - EastEnders' Tanya Branning - had anything to do with the casting?

Meanwhile, slightly earlier in the month, ex-Family Affairs actress Kate Williams - who played Myra Costello in the now-axed Five soap - will appear in EastEnders on Tuesday, September 12.

Kate is to play Liz, the mother of Owen Turner (Lee Ross). Liz struggles to come to terms with what actually happened between Owen and Denise (Diane Parish) and endeavours to sort things out. Later in the week, Liz convinces Libby/Squiggle (Belinda Owusu) to go see her father in prison...

Liz will be in the Square for a short time but will re-surface when Owen returns to Walford later in the year.

It's nice having a woman doctor for a change. I don't think there's ever been one in EE.

No doubt all the men will try and make a pass at her, especially Garry! lol.

I hope she's going to be a good character, and long term. They could do with somebody like Dr Trueman. Someone who's a doctor but also has a life. They also need to be a part of the community, not keep themselves to themselves, like Dr Leroy did.

It's great when somebody can run to the Dr's house in the middle of the night, when they are feeling poorly. It's good to have somebody on call. Like the Heartbeat era! lol.

What happened to Dr Cosons?! All the doctors in EE seem to be a letdown apart from Dr. Trueman...i hope the new woman doctor is an exception and she gets some good storylines and we see her on a regular basis.

I don't know. It's strange that nobody seems to be going to the doctors at the moment. When there is a doctor that's a proper character, people are there all the time for something.
