Robbie Williams fans have been warned to be wary of touts after hundreds of gig tickets were stolen in the post.

More than 500 tickets for the singer's two shows at Hampden Park, Glasgow, this weekend went missing after the promoter sent them out to addresses in the Falkirk and Dunfermline areas.

It is believed they were taken and sold to touts - but police have warned anyone trying to get in with the stolen tickets that they will be turned away. They may also face police questioning about how and where they bought the tickets.

“Strathclyde Police has been informed by the promoters that a quantity of tickets are believed to have been stolen," said Chief Superintendent Robin Howe. "It is likely that they have now been sold on to unsuspecting fans who will be hugely disappointed as these tickets have been withdrawn by the promoters and are no longer valid.

“It is believed that about 380 tickets for the Friday night concert and about 180 for the Saturday night, all originally destined for buyers in the Falkirk and Dunfermline areas, may have been stolen. All tickets are for the seated areas in the stands.

“There will be a special police operation at the turnstiles and anyone in possession of them will be subject to a police enquiry as to how they obtained them.”

Meanwhile, doubts have been expressed over reports that Williams is considering quitting music. The Sun said he has the next three years of his career planned out. It added that he is known for his erratic work ethic. “One day I’ll think, ‘I’m never going to tour again’," he has previously told the paper. "The next day I’ll have changed my mind.”
