A couple of fresh faces are to grace the wards of Holby General next month when Casualty enters its 20th anniversary year.

Dixie and Cyd - played by Jane Hazelgrove (left) and Joanne King (right) respectively - are to join the paramedic team and will cause a stir among the rest of the staff almost immediately.

Their controversial ideas and outspoken ways soon clash with their colleagues', especially Josh (Ian Bleasdale), who is more traditionally-natured. Dixie is loud and brash with a real colourful personality, while on the other hand, Cyd - short for Cynthia - is the complete opposite. She looks up to Dixie who took her in as a young and weary young girl.

"Both Cyd and Dixie are going to be a great addition to the cast; they are going to be at the heart of some great storylines later this year."

The new pair of paramedics will appear on screen from Saturday, September 30.

Sounds great! I thought two new paramedics would be joining the next series as there were needed replacements for Luke and Nina, i can't wait to see them on screen, they sound a bit like a double act too me.

i think its time some new blood came into the paramedic team. I do like the current lot but most stories have been done with at least each one of them! bring on the newbies!
