BBC chiefs have launched a search for gorgeous girls to sex up EastEnders in a desperate bid to boost the soap’s flagging ratings. And they want to attract younger viewers by signing up their own version of Emmerdale’s foxy Roxanne Pallett (who plays superbitch Jo Stiles) to give the show sex appeal.
A source told the Daily Star: “Producers are fed up with Emmerdale and Hollyoaks grabbing all the attention with their gorgeous girls. Top of the agenda are a couple of sexy, fun-loving young babes who will breathe new life into Albert Square. EastEnders has a miserable image - but everyone knows real Cockney girls are fun, sexy and larger-than-life, not moaning minnies.” Hmmm... they clearly haven't met our lumpen, miserable-as-sin Cockney gal pals.
Kara Tointon, who plays wannabe model Dawn Swann, has already made an impression – off-screen as well as on – since arriving in the show earlier this year. The actress reportedly caught the eye of Charlton footballer Jonathan Fortune, as he partied with England stars Ashley Cole and Jermaine Jenas at London nightclub Penthouse on Sunday night. Let's just hope Kara's real-life love interest - EastEnders co-star James Alexandrou (aka Martin Fowler) is the understanding sort.

Oh i hope they don't bring Roxy into EE - I really don't like her character in Emmerdale and it's put me off her they're not going to bring roxanne pallet into it, just people who are like her. i think the idea is a load of rubbish, emmerdale dont get more ratings because their stars are sexy. i guess its not so bad, as long as they pick some good actresses for a change
no no no! we want talented people not people who cant act for their lives just look good on camera! the whoel point of watching a soap is for the stoylines to look and be acted in a beliveable way and to keep us hooked, they're going about it the wrong way maybe the ratings arnt so good because the actors/resses are crap! please dont bring more into the show
what are they on about anyway they have lacey turney, louissa lytton, kara tointon, tiana benjamin, kellie shirley and others!
I dont get why Eastenders would do this we know from other soaps beauty doesnt mean talented. I think they are going the complete wrong way about this. I was thinking they already have a lot of good loking stars who can actually act. Eg Kellie Shirley Carly wicks is quite pretty and she is not a wooden actress like Roxanne Pallett is in the dales.

they should keep Eastenders simple but not boring and they don't need to sex it up in anyway
I'm all up for this - I mean i could be EE's next soap hottie, but you know they just won't let me :rotfl: :rolleyes:
I reckon that instead of wasting time searching for new 'hotties' they should maybe go out and find some half decent actors :rolleyes: (not saying that all the cast are rubbish as some of them are very talented but some are well not!)
When will they ever learn. We dont need people employed because of their 'totty factor' :rolleyes: What EE is lost for is decent actors decent storyline and decent scripwriters. What are we going to end up with another plank like Dennis Woodman????????
Emmerdale are lucky they have all three qualities and reasonably good looking actors as well.

thats stupid, i really dont want to see loads of girls flouncing (sp?) around the screen just cos theyre "sexy", its really not going to make ee any better, good actors and storylines is what makes a show good, not how goodlooking the cast is!
This is just daft - hello - its about the storylines, the scriptwriter and the abilities of the actors, not how they look :rolleyes:

They could get the "hottest babes" on this planet, but if the storylines are rubbish nobody will watch will they? It's the writing that needs addressing.

Dumb idea, look like I may of spoken too soon about things looking up, why oh why do they keep doing this, produce good material, good mix and then slap it away with the other hand overnight! It's storylines that grab the viewers not "talent" and what about us older viewers don't we count anymore? If they want to bring totty into it what about some older ones for us older viewers??
The reason why I don't watch Hollyoaks is because the soap is too young for me and the reason I watch Emmerdale/Corrie is because it is not full of "Youngsters" it has a good mix of all age groups and is therefore, IMO, a soap which caters for everyone. It has a lot of "totty" but this is combined with excellent storylines, which involve youngsters as well as oldies, both of which I thoroughly enjoy.
If Enders wants to up the totty then they will have to combine this with some excellent writing and storylines, otherwise it will lose all it's older viewers.

Just because they look well doesn't mean they can act Hollyoaks has lots of airhead actresses and Jo and Katie from Emmerdale are also an airheads who can't act. Ok Dawn Miller and Carly Wicks might be good looking but are awful actresses. The best in Eastenders is Lacey Turner she is a great actress and looks well on screen not some skinny minny with dyed blond hair. Eastenders needs to concentrate on their storylines more as they have talented characters.

Ok Ok we all agree we do not want any more "hotties" (ie the female type) but maybe a little more eye candy for us girls,,, Deano , Mickey,Garry,Minty, Martin ... just do not do it for us obviously,, Sean is a "maybe"( hes got great dimples tho when he smiles never mind ,,, but he can act to a point )
EE just needs to fire their present writers, and hire a whole new team of new writers, and give some LIFE back to EE, and stop recycling their darn story lines.......We all know they are doing it, so history needs to stop repeating itself on EE,,, just my 2 euro cents worth,,,:searchme:

An absolute insane and ridiculous idea! Emmerdale and Hollyoaks isn't successful for how good looking their actors and actresses are, they are successful because the actors and actresses can act, combined with good writing and good storylines.
I think Eastenders is doing fine at the moment, but if they think hot babes will help boost ratings, they've got another thing coming!
I watch it for the good characters, storylines and good writing, not good looks!
