Sunday 27th August

The nightmare of Goddard’s closure is getting worse for Anna. Having received notice from the bank, stating she is personally liable for outstanding debts, she resolves to launch a picket against Greenwoods. It’s Greenwoods that have effectively shut Goddard’s down, if the supermarket is built it will decimate the local businesses. However, Robert Ashford sees things differently and has all the resources of the law in blocking Anna’s attempt to picket.

Meanwhile, with Anna preoccupied with the picket, Nisha and Zoe find themselves handling a difficult situation involving four old friends. Patient Carly has been involved in a car crash which has left her boyfriend, Johnny in a coma. Johnny’s sister, Hannah remains naively convinced her brother will regain consciousness and blames his friend, Gareth for the situation. An argument between the two men prior to the crash was the reason why Johnny was so upset, but could Carly’s feelings for Gareth have been the cause of the disagreement?

When Hannah comes to ask her advice, Nisha is unable to provide any. The experience of seeing Johnny in a coma has brought back her memories of the ordeal she suffered in Sheffield. In the aftermath of her attack by a patient she realises how much her family have gone through and how strong they are. Will this realisation provide her with the strength to help Hannah and her family?

Meanwhile as Nisha is coming to terms with her past, Rowan is forging forward. Pleased to have found a part time job she doesn’t seem to mind that it’s for Skelthwaite’s public enemy Number One – Robert Ashford. In fact, she feels sorry for him, being so castigated by the community he thinks he’s helping.

In contrast to Zoe’s upbeat newly-installed presence, Harding and Billy can’t help but feel life is passing them by - both redundant and low on morale. When Harding receives an offer from Ashford it may be more than he can refuse…

Anyone would think Anna had enough to handle at the moment with money troubles, her son about to get married and the impending auction of the machinery from Goddard’s factory, yet she continues her battle against Greenwoods supermarket. Determined for Ashford to see the strength of the town, she sets out to organise a local traders’ day in Skelthwaite.

One of the stalls is run by Brian Goodson, who owns a butcher’s shop with his father, Stan. For the Goodsons, the supermarket could mean the death of the family business. Keen to keep the shop afloat, Brian’s son, Nick, is happy to help out, but Brian continues to push Nick away insisting that he follows his dream of being a musician. Zoe worries Brian is working too hard and may not be as well as he was. Whether she can persuade Brain to admit his problems is another matter.

Meanwhile, Anna is still facing money problems with the factory. A generous offer to buy the land seems like a good thing, but not when the offer is from Robert Ashford. Greenwoods want to use the land to build the supermarket and the offer would clear Anna’s debts, but will she let her enemy be her saviour?

At Goddard’s, the sale of the machinery signals the end of the factory, so it’s an inconvenience when they receive a lorry load of pulp paper out of the blue. When Anna receives an order from the council they decide to turn the incident to their advantage and give the machines one last run. With only a few days before the auction the factory staff work through the night, but are rewarded when they are offered a permanent contract. Perhaps this isn’t the end of Goddard’s…

Elsewhere, while Megan is busy studying, Luke, Nathan and Danny are doing much of the wedding preparations. When Danny bemoans the lack of love in his life, the others point out Zoe as a potential partner. Danny starts to wonder whether they will work together – is she already more than a friend or is his mind playing tricks on him?

I was thinking that the other night, surely no one else in the village would like this, especially her dad!!!!
I don't want Zoe to get with Danny i think she suits Nathan better.

I like Nathan and Zoe together! Haven't they already slept together? Also who is living in Harding's house?

Sunday 10th September 2006

It’s the night before Luke and Megan’s wedding and the stag and hen parties are in full swing. Well, the stag do would be, if the girls hadn’t already commandeered the Skelthwaite Arms.

At the party, Nisha and Zoe reflect on how Anna’s being focussed solely on work, reminds them they are the new girls, comparatively speaking. When Anna is called away by patient Sylvia Landridge, who seems more interested in company rather than medical advice, Nisha joins her, leaving Zoe to party.

Sylvia’s loyal gardener, Fred, would seemingly wait on her hand and foot though she makes it clear that no such closeness exists.

The morning of the wedding is full of activity as the Boothe’s share a family breakfast, reflecting on how far they’ve come over the past year. At Goddard’s, Harding (Brian Capron) is relishing reopening the factory, but Anna finds it hard to share his enthusiasm. Billy (Andrew Paul) calls by at Terri’s to practise his father-of-the-bride speech and, caught in the moment, they share a kiss. Shell-shocked, Billy makes his excuses and leaves.

Elsewhere, Zoe is feeling her position in Skelthwaite is rootless and despite his best intentions, Danny is saying all the wrong things to her.

Boarding the coach laid on for the wedding guests, Sylvia confides in Nisha that her happiest time in life was when she was engaged, to a man called George – who Fred worked for. Though he was a man of few words, he wrote her the most beautiful love letters, which still move her years later.

Not long after the coach departs, disaster strikes as barrels come loose from a lorry ahead, crashing into the windscreen. The coach lurches off the road, into a field. At first it appears that there are no serious injuries, but very rapidly it becomes apparent that Anna is struggling to breath and Sylvia lies unconscious.

As a devastated Fred professes his love to Sylvia, Nisha and Zoe perform an emergency tracheotomy on Anna. Will the nurses be able to save their friend and colleague?

Oh no they can't let Anna die, it's the last in the series as well so who knows what will happen. And on Luke and Megans wedding day. Might there be some more romance in the air for Billy and Terri. Really looking forward to watching it.

They wouldn't do it, not on their wedding day, surely. I hadn't heard anything about her leaving, so maybe Zoe will make her mark and save Anna's life instead (heres hoping). They can't end this series killing off one of the nurses, they did that with Sally last series....at least, I'm hoping thats the case.
