It’s the morning after the night before and after spending the night at Holly’s house, PC Lewis Hardy (AML AMEEN) is forced to hide when Terry turns up unexpectedly. Holly eventually gets rid of him and Lewis tells her she has to come clean about their relationship to her father.

PC Roger Valentine (JOHN BOWLER) and Lewis arrive at Hope Morrison’s (SEROCA DAVIS) house to find her young son in a coma after ingesting some heroin. After finding a kilo of heroin hidden in baby formula cans, DS Sam Nixon (LISA MAXWELL) and Lewis question Hope, and when they put some emotional pressure on her, she eventually comes up with her boyfriend and dealer’s name, Lee Mayer (RAMON VAUGHN-WILLIAMS) along with another name, Marlin Vickers (TERRY JOHN).

DS Phil Hunter (SCOTT MASLEN) comments on how tired DC Zain Nadir (TJ RAMINI) is looking and says that he must be getting extremely close to Kristen Shaw (CHRISTINE STEPHEN-DALY). Phil reminds him that they will have to arrest her when the time comes. DCI Jack Meadows (SIMON ROUSE), Phil and Zain go over the Kristen case. Paul Haskew (GARY WEBSTER) is still on the scene and it looks as though there are rumblings of a turf war between them and a guy called Vickers.

Later, Neil Manson (ANDREW LANCEL) and Zain sit outside of Vickers warehouse and to Zain’s surprise, Kristen turns up for a meeting with him. Neil is gob smacked when Zain has to come clean and admit that he has been working undercover. He tells him that they can’t arrest Kristen - she thinks he is a bent cop and there are bigger fish to fry. Jack Phil and Zain explain to Neil that they’re using Zain to pose as a bent cop, get close to Kristen and learn about her connections in an attempt to bring Haskew and her suppliers down.

Back in CID, Zain is horrified to discover that Jack and Neil have decided to take Kristen, Haskew and Vickers down when the heroin is passed from one to the other. Zain tells Phil that he doesn’t believe Kristen would deal heroin and Phil reminds him it’s not his job to rehabilitate, it’s to arrest. On an emotional rollercoaster, Zain finds himself hatching a very dangerous plan…

Detective Constables Zain Nadir (TJ RAMINI) and Kezia Walker (CAT SIMMONS) investigate a suspicious fire at a fashion warehouse where evidence suggests that the fire was started deliberately. Zain and Kezia question the owner, Linda Dyer (BARBARA WILSHERE) who says that, although she’ll be able to claim on the insurance, it won’t be long before the boutiques will source their designer goods elsewhere. The pair then set their sights on Linda’s business partner, Derek Hales (JOE TUCKER) who insinuates that a driver that they had to ‘let go’ recently may have started the fire. However, Kezia is intrigued when she discovers that Derek has previous and was recently arrested after a drunken row with his ex-wife about their financial situation. When Zain sneaks off, leaving Kezia to work on her own, both DC Terry Perkins (BRUCE BYRON) and PC Honey Harman (KIM TIDDY) pitch in. After discovering that Linda is in deeper debt than Derek, they are certain that the fire is an insurance scam - but who is the guilty party?

Meanwhile, glamorous drug baron, Kristen Shaw (CHRISTINE STEPHEN-DALY) meets with Zain and thanks him again for preventing her and Haskew (GARY WEBSTER) from getting nicked the night before. She then asks him to do a check on Louis Drake (PETER SILVERLEAF) who Haskew is thinking of hiring as a dealer. Kristen tells Zain she is thinking about taking him on but wants to check out his background first. Disregarding the investigation he should be working on with Kezia, Zain calls Kristen warning her not to let Drake anywhere near her business. Zain is then stunned when he learns that Drake has assaulted Kristen, lashing out when she turned him down for the job. Unbeknownst to Kristen, Zain tracks Drake down and as Drake takes a swing at him, Zain retaliates punching him in the jaw and then the stomach. Zain strides off leaving a floored Drake screaming in agony. Have the renegade cop’s feelings for his target caused him to take leave of his senses?

Also, unimpressed Sergeant June Ackland (TRUDIE GOODWIN) pairs troubled PC Roger Valentine (JOHN BOWLER), who has arrived late for work, with PC Lewis Hardy (AML AMEEN) and tasks them to find transvestite, Kathy Clarke (ISOBEL MIDDLETON) who isn’t answering calls from the Criminal Justice Unit even though she is due to give evidence in the Nick Spencer trial. Roger and Lewis are horrified to discover Kathy badly beaten in her home and when she admits to receiving threatening calls June reports back to say that they were made from a hostel where Nick’s father, William Spencer (PETER HELMER), is staying and he becomes their number one suspect. Roger soon catches William who is fleeing the hostel and gives him a few whacks with his asp before Lewis arrives. A worried June asks Lewis how Roger is doing and even after he assures her he is fine, June decides to pay Roger a visit after work. Ignoring the knock at the door, Roger silently seeks solace in a microwave meal for one and a glass of Whiskey…

zain is going to far now and has got far too involved with the Kristen Shaw case. i hope he gets caught doing something dodgy soon!
also roger needs sorting out before he does something stupid as he is far from capable of doing his job properly.
these look good spoilers though.
