If The BBC Axe - Eastenders ! How would you stop it and change Eastenders to make them do a u turn

This is the worse news in the world, viewers have been asked to send in their opinions on how to revive and save the show !

Campers how you would do it ? What people would you axe, what would you change, what people would you have return and how and why, what actors would you introduce.

Would love to hear your views, and you never know the scriptwriters and EP might even read them.

First things first I would not bring characters back, it rarely ever works and I think EE needs to move on from them, why bring back characters who serve no importance to the square?

All the new characters have fantastic potential, the Branning family in particular have alot of potential but its up to EE to make them work and to keep conjuring up good storylines for them.

Who would I axe? where would I begin. For starters I would have Naomi swiftly out the exit door, she serves as no purpose and cant act, she needs to be out, along with Keith Miller and his family, Joe and Bert and a few others.

Where it could improve is to bring some more gritiness and excitement to the storylines, lets have a few more storylines that excite audiences, storylines that can build up anticipation for the audience, like the who shot Phil Mitchell storyline?.

To be honest though the whole how can EE be saved thing? is daft now just because some stars have left does not mean it will be axed, I do not see Wendy Richards as a huge loss I really dont, I have never liked the character of Pauline, and Adam Woddyatt was getting dull as Ian Beale, its time to bring in some new life.

With all the opinions on The Mitchells and the way they are treated as gods at elstree, what would you do with them?

well I think they should move on from the Mitchell brothers now, the whole get Johnny week did not live up to expectations at all, and the money it costs to get Ross Kemp on board is ludicris. Though I would like to see more of the young Courtney I think she has very good potential if she came back.

Axe the scriptwriters and storyliners> Get people from the real world to write the stories instead of the luvvies that they have at the moment. Give us characters that we can care about. Stop spending ridiculous amounts of money in bringing back has beens in an effort to boost viewing figures. Stop giving characters personality transplants. Watch old episodes on UKTV Gold you will realise why people are now turning off in droves.

I agree with alot of what you have written, but do think Enders has/is improving, and there are now new characters like the Brannings (Max, Tanya, Bradley) who are great additions to the show, who Ive warmed to, but I do always have the fear in the back of my mind that they will be butchered (personalitywise) in the future by the writers.

Im a big Enders fan, and as I've already said, Ive seen big improvements this year, especially regarding the continunity probs it has suffered with in recent times.

If I was in charge I'd pay huge sums of dosh to get the cream of writers in (rather than paying huge amounts to bring back past their sell by date characters).

I'd also get rid of Pauline 'satsuma' Fowler and Ian Beale, but I guess thats happening now anyway!

Though I do think the press has been whipping up a bit of hysteria regarding enders, claiming its on its last legs. The recent viewing figures I read had it approx 300,000 viewers behind Corrie and still ahead of Emmerdale, not bad for an ailing soap! :)

Firstly id axe a lot of the character which cannot actually act! For example even thought Deano is fit, hes not that good of an actor and hes wasted space in Walford, Same with Chelsea, shes eye candy but not that good at acting. I would bring back all the good old characters like Kat, Alfie, Chrissie, Sharon etc... Then i would stop bringing in new characters every week! Also i think its good to focus storylines on families/characters that have potential and can actually go somewhere for example The Brannings, The Mitchells, Stacey and The Slaters etc...

I would axe Letitia Dean she has had more comebacks than Terry Venables. She swans off when it suits her and the the writers are left having to imagine a new SENSATIONAL and EXPLOSIVE return for her. She always returns at the expense of some other character or storyline just as the Chuckle Brorothers did.

To improve Eastenders, i wouldn't bring back any old characters but i would axe Naomi, the remainder of the Miller family (except Dawn) and Joe and Bert.

I would bring a new bitchy character into the Square and a new villain too who the viewers will love to hate.

I wouldn't give any characters any personality transplants and i would turn Eastenders into a more grittier show with grittier storylines mixed with realism and humourous storylines too. :)

I would use all the characters that Eastenders has and give them all the same amount of screen time. :)

I normally stop EastEnders by pressing a button on my remote control, either for the TV or VHS. :o

If I was in control of saving Eastenders from being axed I would have the Chuckle brothers and their poison dwarf of a mother tied up and tortured 24 style. I can see it now Jack bauer has phil mitchell strapped to a chair with one hand round his scrawny neck and a gun in the other hand pointing at his head telling him how he is going to be tortured to death and phil is screaming like a canary.

Axe the producer and script writers. Then axe, Naomi, Gus, Deano, Chelsea, Bert, Joe.

Introduce more drama/Grit along with good quality family drama.
Use charcters whom have potential and would pull in the viewing figures.
Give each character equal viewing time along with big storylines.
A good Mix of drama/grit and comedy.
More bad boys and bad girls.

At the end of the day no one or nothing can help Eastenders,it has gone way beyond that. What was once an extremely enjoyable Soap has been totally destroyed. I blame the Producers. It needs to be axed now and a new soap or daily drama put in its place.

see I agree with most of what you say Babe but I think EE can be improved, its not to the point where I have switched of yet in disgust, that has to be a good sign, all soaps have rough patches its just something will need to be done real soon, otherwise what was once a great soap will have no choice but to be axed, but I think it can be saved but action must be taken sooner rather than later.
