Gillian Taylforth is set to join the cast of popular ITV1 drama The Bill - and she couldn't be more pleased, especially once she saw how good she looked in the uniform.
The former soap star, best known for playing Kathy Beale in EastEnders, will play Sergeant Nikki Wright, and will be on our screens in October.
The actress admitted her partner Geoff Knights suggested she bring the costume home, so they could play at dressing up.
Fans of the Albert Square soap have a special place in their hearts for the blonde star, who was a regular member of the cast from 1985 to 1998, before returning for a brief run between 1999-2000.
Kathy Beale was one of the founding characters of the show, and endured a rollercoaster time during her tenure in Albert Square.
Her seemingly solid marriage to market trader Pete Beale (Peter Dean) fell apart after she was raped by slimy pub owner James Wilmott-Brown.
She found love again with stubble-headed thug Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). The pair married and had a son, Ben. However, it wasn't long before his hard-drinking led to their relationship going sour.
Kathy found comfort in the arms of Grant (Ross Kemp), Phil's equally burly brother. Their romance broke down and she ended up jetting off to a new life in South Africa.
Since leaving the soap, Gillian has featured in a variety of shows, including Footballers' Wives and the original Messiah drama.
Most recently she has been seen in the ITV1 series Jane Hall.
