Emma Thompson's sister is to join EastEnders.
Gosford Park star Sophie will play a lawyer called Stella Crawford.
Her character follows in the footsteps of lawyer Marcus Christie, forever getting the Mitchell brothers out of trouble.
Now Marcus has disappeared and she must take up where he left off.
She arrives in Albert Square in the autumn when Phil needs some conveyancing work done. He finds Stella a bit flaky at first but tackles her and uncovers a different side.
An insider said: "Stella used to be a high flyer in the City but it all went wrong as her marriage collapsed. Now she is trying to rebuild her life by working in a small firm. She's got secrets to hide."
Married mum-of-two Sophie, 44, is best known as lusty Lydia, the second bride in Four Weddings and a Funeral.
In Gosford Park, Sophie played dependable servant Dorothy, hopelessly in love with the butler.
