A brief encounter
Since Marcus Christie (http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/eastenders/characters/character_content/character_marcus_c.shtml) scarpered, there's been a gap for a Mitchell lawyer. Stella Crawford will step into the breach this autumn. Not much is known about Stella and she seems to have secrets to hide. Stella's hired by Phil Mitchell (http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/eastenders/characters/character_content/character_phil_m.shtml) when he has some conveyancing work to be done.

Star of stage and screen
You may recognise Sophie from her appearances on the big and small screen. Her film credits include Four Weddings and a Funeral (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/2787117.stm), Emma, and Gosford Park (http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2002/01/18/gosford_park_2002_review.shtml). She's had roles in many TV dramas including Persuasion, The Railway Children and Lee Evans' (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/profiles/lee_evans.shtml) comedy show, What Now (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/l/leeevanssowhatn_66601530.shtml)?

Sophie says:
"Joining EastEnders is a bit like being welcomed into a really special playground that you never thought you had the chance to play in and you are rather in awe of all the kids, but very excited."

Sophie will be on screen from autumn 2006.

Don't they have a new lawyer. Ritchie Scott I think? What happened to her?

I think Peggy got rid of her because Richie was saying that there was no way to get Phil off, and Peggy couldn't accept it, thus putting the blame entirely on Richie.

But she was there during the Ben storyline, and that was after Phil (miraculously) got off. :searchme:

Was she? I don't know in that case, didn't see her. Unless there was no one else at short notice or something.

I wonder if Marcus will ever re-appear? Would make for a good storyline for the Mitchells, plus it would tell us what it was that Dirty Den had on him, because I dont think that we ever did find out what it was he had on him did we ? :searchme:

Well he knew he was planning to con the Mitchells, because they set it up between them, but that couldn't have been it because they would take Marcus's word over Den Watts's any day.

yet another plot hole as a result of the scriptwriting department

altough ritchie scott wasnt in it much, the scenes she did appear in were fun to watch, she had a good screen prescence and her witty one liners about the Mitchell brothers were superb, she seemed as tough she was a no nonsence woman who wouldn't be dictated to by the Mitchells, a shame she's going to be replaced by ANOTHER new addition...

I think this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/eastenders/episodes/episode_content/episode20051021.shtml) was her first appearance.

The Mitchells dont need a lawyer. They have got fantastic scriptwriters out in Elstree who make up the law as they go along. No worries about getting caught in a factory with a gun, assaulting police, absconding from prison. Just pretend it never happened or that they are so rich they can bribe the police, the judges the forensic service the crown prosecution service etc.

Who cares whether the viewers notice anything.

First time I find myself agreeing with you Alan !! The mitchells scripwriters are the ones that need a lawyer, so they can be told what the law is and that people in the real world don't get away things like that. I mean who has ever heard of anyone absonding from prison and getting away with it !!
