New inmate Stella Gough is fiercely ambitious; she is determined to join the army as soon as she has served her sentence at Larkhall. Her enthusiasm quickly attracts the interest of Governor Joy Masterton who decides to help Stella achieve her dreams. Joy is delighted an inmate is showing some initiative and ambition. But is Stella being completely honest about why she wants to join up?
PO Donny Kimber is concerned inmate Janine Nebeski is relying on drugs to get through her days. He wants to help but Janine is shunning him as she knows he double crossed Emira. But Donny soon wins her over her by indiscreetly disclosing his undercover work. Janine is suitably impressed; he is her real life James Bond!
Dr Rowan Dunlop is on top of the world after his liaison with Lou Stoke. But when she starts to deliberately avoid him he is left confused and doubting where he stands after all.
Stella is thrilled when Governor Joy sets up a practice army training regime to help her get fit. And Stella wastes no time in recruiting some other girls to take part too. Tubby Tina O’Kane and Darlene Cake don’t understand what they have let themselves in for when Joy begins to put them all through their paces.
Lou tells Janine she has been put forward for some counselling but Janine doesn’t want to go – what’s the point, her mum’s dead, she’s stuck in prison and no one cares about her in the whole wide world. But Donny convinces Janine to take part, it’s for the best and he will be there for her. Janine is delighted, he does care after all!
Stella’s determined to impress Joy with her ability and fitness whilst Darlene and Tina flounder under Joy’s strict instruction. Stella puts all her energy in to impressing Joy and proving she’s perfect for the army but Joy starts to suspect Stella is becoming a little too interested in her. However when Stella suddenly takes a serious tumble, Joy is distraught. How could she have allowed her to push it so far without safety precautions? But the accident proves the catalyst for a confession Joy really doesn’t want to hear.
