EastEnders star Wendy Richard has sparked new fears over her health. The veteran actress, who plays the never knowingly under-cardiganed Pauline Fowler, was too ill to attend the 60th birthday party of one of her closest friends.
The star, who has twice battled breast cancer, had flown out to Malta with former co-star Letitia Dean (Sharon Watts) for the surprise bash for a former director of the BBC soap. But in the event, she was too ill to leave her hotel suite.
A hotel source revealed: “Wendy seemed to have a lot on her mind while she was here. It was as though there was something that was constantly worrying her. She didn’t have much of an appetite. A lot of the guests noticed that during her stay she wasn’t looking or feeling her best.”
However, Wendy’s partner and manager John Burns tried to play down the worries about her health, saying: “She’s suffering from a head cold.” We’re sure you’ll join us in wishing Wendy a very speedy recovery.
