Not sure where to put this but i'll type it here since its a problem and i'd like some advice.
Started a new job a few weeks ago and its a complete nightmare, the boss is continually having a go at me and it all came to a head today.
I work in a sandwich shop, its hard to price different combinations up sometimes and i always adopted the attitude that if you dont know then ask, but everytime i ask her about a different combination, just to check the price then she has a right go at me. Same happened today, so after she'd had a go at me i said "i'm sorry, i didnt know" like i always do and then she went mad at me and told me off for back chatting her, then took me upstairs telling me that she'd had enough of my attitude. Now dont get me wrong if i'd actually had an attitude i would have readily admitted it, but i dont really say too much there other than speaking to the customers. She then reeled of a whole list of problems that she had with me, some of which were....
- too loud
- too short with the customers
- too chatty/friendly with the customers
- not talking enough to the customers
Now is it me or is that completely contradictory? And how is "i'm sorry i didnt know" backchatting. I'm really trying to understand this and i dont because she has never said anything before to me about it.
She was really laying into me and i just burst into tears like the wimp that I am, and then continued to apologise but stating that if i'd known i was too short/talkative/loud/friendly then i would have at least tried to change. 1She kept on having a go then started to apologise - well her version of an apology to a degree when i started to take my apron off and said that i couldnt take it anymore then she told me i was being childish, and that i should work tomorrow to see if things could change. Now ive had a few jobs and nobody has ever said anything like this to me ever before - in fact quite the opposite, i have been commended for my manners etc, so i dont understand what its all about.
I really need the money but dont want the crap.....does anyone think she might have been justified in what she was saying, i just want to try and understand it all :crying:
