To be honest 2005 was one of the best years in my opinoin for Eastenders. There was some cracking storylines as well as some really rubbish ones. The whole Dens murder was the biggest and best storyline in Soap for a very long time. the Ferriar family left (Thank god for that) Andy Hunter left (He was okay) Johnny Allen arrived (When he first came in he really did shake things up a little...but then they ruin him) Kalfie reunited (which was great) Shannis returned for one last time. The Mitchells returned better and balder then ever :rotfl: and not forgetting the romeo and juliet type storyline between Demi and Leo. Dot learning to drive (That was really funny)

However there were some really bad things in my mind like Mo and Alfie (that really was a bad idea.) The holiday to France (What was that all about)

so all in all i think that 2005 was a great year for Eastenders fans.

[QUOTE=bakedbean] Shannis returned for one last time. QUOTE]

Who was Shannis? I only watched enders, I have to admit, on and off over the course of 2005. I think the quality of the prog and the storylines were a real mixed bag of some good to some truly awful storylines.

The major problem I had last year was the continuity problems it seemed to suffer with, which made it very frustrating to watch, hence being a part time viewer. However this year 2006 things seem alot better and I really enjoy watching it!:D

I feel that Eastenders was great in 2005 and really recovered from the bad patch that the awful Louise Berridge caused in the 2 years of 2003/2004. It was a great turning point for the show and the Den's death storyline was brillant and definetly made Eastenders in 2005. Chrissie Watts was the best character in EE of 2005 and she made Eastenders for me too. I only started watching EE properly from 2003 so i think 2005 was a great year for the show and showed brilliant improvement...definetly my favourite year since i have started watching properly!

I think that 2005 was one of the best years for Enders. What with Den's Murder and the whole storyline that that lead on to. Mitchells returning etc. Was an amazing year.

I thought that EastEnders was great in 2005! There were some great storylines! The sad bit was we let go of some of our best loved characters! For me i think that the best characters were Chrissie Watts and Dennis Rickman! My favourite bit of last year had to have been the reunion between Kat and Alfie  and also Shannis returning for a final time, also i think the downfall of Chrissie was good too! Overall i think 2005 is way better than this year! So Far...

2005 was appalling with nonsense ill thought out storylines such as return of a dead man Phil corrupting the legal profession, the met and various witnesses, Johhny Allen going soft, Gwant becoming a new man and returning from Rio not even remembering why he went on the run in the first place.

2005 was only a slight improvement on the awful 2003 and 2004, and 2006 hasn't impressed me so far either. Too many ridiculous storylines, too many personality changes overnight, just so poor. No wonder I don't watch it anymore.

EE is sadly a shadow of its former self from the 80s and 90s. Julia Smith would turn in her grave at the quality of the show today.

I thought it was a good year, and I think 2006 has the potential to be a good year, I think the inclusion of the Branning family was a very good move, as was the signings of Phil Daniels (Kevin Wicks) and Diane Parish (Denise Fox) and the axeing of several characters has gained the thumbs up from me. Last years was great at times, it had its share of bad moments like all soaps do, but Den's death was pure comedy.

, but Den's death was pure comedy. Comedy yes but not as funny as his resuurection from Walford Canal far fetched or what

I too thought 2005 was one of the best ever. 2004 and 2006 were bad, and 06 still is. I can't very well say that it was better in the 90's as I hardly watched it at that time.

2005 was quite a good year for EastEnders and as we all know its main rival was on its back. But I think without the Den storyline it would have been a dire year. That was the only thing which made EastEnders worth watching last year.. and of course the brilliant Chrissie who was the highlight of it all.

I know Im in a minority here but to me the ridiculous return of Den  totally ruined any semblance of realism that EE had. That and the return of the Chuckle Brothers:rolleyes: put the final nail in the coffin.

I found 2005 boring if anything, the whole allen family where dire all that stuff about the fire (that killed his wife)was so boring.

I liked the den storyline I was'nt keen on the mitchells return it was so rushed and put there there was no way phil would just get off armed robberey, where did they get the range rover from with phil being released that morning and grant just arriving from brazil, the cliche ello' mum and being superhero's all of a sudden:sick: .

I liked the leo/demi storyline I thought that was good.Jakes last episodes with danny around the fire where good so was the week in which dennis proposed to sharon.

Other than that I wasnt a fan of 2005 at all,

i loved EE 2005.

i loved most of the storylines in ee the one i didnt really like and still dont like is the stuff revolving round martin/sonia/rebecca, it was so boring to watch.

chrissie for me was one of the only reasons i watched ee for the rest of 2005, they shouldnt of put most of the major storylines on one characters shoulders. And now chrissie's is gone there is an empty space from where she was.

but 2005 was a good year for me to watch

2005 - was I agree one of the better years on the soap

Chrissie Watts for me was the best thing about EE that year TAO was fab and I miss her tons :crying:

The return of Sharon and Dennis was spectacular leading to Zoe's very welcome exit and then the death of the lovely Mini Den on New Year's Eve

The arrival of Jake Moon some hot tottie always welcome

I could go on and on Demi and Leo, Jakissie, Chrissie's downfall, Mitchell's return, Sharon's pregnancy, Kalfie @ Xmas, Stacey and Ruby and plenty more

It had a down hill patch but generally yes i think it was a good year, ive liked Eastenders for as long as i can remember, it would take more than a down hill patch to stop me being a loyal viewer and it did do some good story lines but its looking like this year will be bitter.

thought you two might have something like that to say!!! lol :D but you are right, some of the 2005 stuff was a bit downhill - den's murder, however, certainly was not. classic stuff, that. best i've seen eastenders at yet.

2005 had one good storyline: Den's death, other than that it was absolute... :moonie:

For that to be classed as a good story you have to suspend the reality that Den was in fact really dead having been murdered along the bonny bonny banks of Walford Canal by an assasin armed with a pistol cunningly disguised as a bunch of daffodils. For me the return of dead man Den showed how low the producers would stoop to try and gain viewers. he was dead and dead he should have stayed.

Indeed Alan.

I actually hated Den's second death Bryan. I thought they completely changed Den's personality in his final moments. He never laid a finger on women, he took his aggression out on the men, e.g. Wilmott Brown, the Fern. Yet they totally subversed this with his attack on Chrissie. Let's not forget the storyline after he was dug up by Superstrong ( ) Sam Mitchell. That had more plot holes than swiss cheese and plot holes wider than the Grand Canyon. Just my take though.

The only two things I have enjoyed in EE since 2003 were Janine's exit and Pauline and Joe's wedding, and to a slightly lesser extent, Stacey and Jean last year.
