Whenever I post something just lately all the replies I get is 'already posted, closing' - but some people (like me) don't always read the whole of the threads ever posted. So when I choose to create a thread, it's because I think it hasn't been created. For example today I posted something off the Neighbours website, thinking noone will have posted this because it's a new week and they're Australian spoilers. And then I find someone has already posted this weeks ago. I mean how do they find exactly what I see today weeks in advance, unless they actually write the site themselves. I think 'Jesse Wallace' posted this a week ago, when the site updates over the weekend. Did you actually create the site?

Don't get me wrong I love this site, just find it a little frustrating when those are the replies I get, after the time it took to make the post look presentable - even adding pictures, so it'd illustrate the storylines as much as possible. This also happened with last weeks. Surely new and fresh threads should be allowed to be kept open, so as to save people scanning right back to the original post. Apologies if I've offended anyone by this. I guess everyone makes mistakes - and I do try and be wary of what has and hasn't been posted.

Emma, I know that can be annoying but the best and fastest way to avoid this is to use the Search option. This will list all threads that have the key words and you can scan quickly through them.

Closing duplicate threads is just to avoid having 2 topic open on the same subject. Most Moderators when they close a thread post the link so you can easily go to the discussion

If you post spoilers etc that appear in British Newspapers and Magazines you can be 99% certain that it probably has appeared in the internet weeks ago. This is especially true of spoilers/info on Aussie soap which have probably been seen in Oz months ago. As Siobhan says try using the search facility. Its not totally foolproof but its fairly good. Duplicate posts are very annoying

I appreciate that, but when I looked for this weeks spoilers they weren't there and then all of a sudden there's a message saying someone had already covered it, when the site updates every week. I just couldn't see how someone had covered the same article last week - when it only changes every Monday.

Whoever posted before you may have got their spoilers from another site than the official one you use. I regularly post spoilers about The Bill sometimes Im first sometimes someone beats me to it. C'est la vie

As Siobhan said, each forum does have a search facility to check for older topics and all moderators will post links to the discussion relating to the topic they closed.
When a thread is closed, it's nothing against the author - I often don't even check who has posted a duplicate thread when I close it - it is just because there is no point in having two threads on the same subject.

You can find out how to search for duplicate threads in the posting guide (http://www.soapboards.co.uk/forums/announcement.php?f=12).

They were all on the same page too, all you had to do was scroll down, and you'd have seen them :D

Granted it is annoying when that happens, especially when you spend time typing up the topic and a duplicate doesn't come up on the search tool because the previous authour used a totally different title, but it's even more annoying when there's several threads on the same topic and you forget where you've posted what, people end up posting the same thing twice in the same topic, or the titles are similar and then you are sat there for quite a while trying to figure out which posts you've read and which you haven't, which is the whole point of the moderators closing threads.
