Madonna and Ritchie to adopt

Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie are taking active steps towards adopting a child.

The celebrity couple want another sibling for Lourdes and Rocco, but the singer seems unable to conceive again.

As well as contacting UK and US adoption agencies, the pair have also spoken to close friend Brad Pitt about his experience with adoption.

A source revealed: “Madonna and Guy are serious about adopting a baby. They had a meeting with a British adoption agency but were not satisfied that it was the right one. So they found another agency in America and had a meeting with them about becoming parents to an orphaned baby.

“They have discussed the plans with the children and Lola, as they call Lourdes, is very excited about the prospect of getting a new brother or sister.”

it is a good cause but really is this going to be the new celeb fashion an adopted kid??

they all seem to be either looking into it or atleast thinking about it.

Is it just me or does it seem easier for a Celeb to adopt a child? Consider the rate at which they break up and get married, should they be vetted like normal couple who are together years and still find it hard to adopt?

I agree - they seem to snap their fingers, tell someone they want to adopt and next thing are bringing the baby/child home. These poor people that have been waiting for years to be able to adopt and are still waiting, yet celebs have things instantly. And like you said Siobhan, they all seem to get divorced at a rate of knots these days, they should be subject to more checks etc, as in my mind, being the child of a celeb would probably be far more difficult (all the paparazzi trying to take pics, everyone wanting to meet mum and dad, kidnap possibilities etc)

So at the end of the day, having a child is not about fertility but money.. the thing is, these celebs are been praise for "rescuing" a child but are they really.. As you said Em, they are hounded more.. Look at Angelina Jolie.. she is well able to concieve, yet she has more adopted children. Is it about her figure??? If she wan'ted to help she could supply the money to the agency and let other couples who can't concieve have a chance to have a baby

Exactly - these couples that are having problems adopting can only sit and watch while these celebrities treat it like a shopping spree and nip to the adoption agency and come back with a baby, while they have been waiting years to be able to do just that. How many children do celebs need? I know people have big families etc, but if you able to conceive naturally, then expand your family naturally and allow those that have been waiting to adopt for years, have that chance in life. Not rip it away from them.
