Ah, just heard the good news that SpongeBob the monkey has been found safe and well.
He is a endangered monkey who was brought to England last year and had been living at Chessington Zoo for 3 months. Zoo specialists said that he had integrated well with the females - as the idea was that he'd be the breeding monkey - I guess to keep the population going.
It is thought the thief carefully planned the snatch, and fears were for it's safety as he had a specialised diet. This rings true with poor baby penguin Toga, who was snatched over Christmas 2005 - and has never been found.
I thought it was cruel when ordinary members of the public were ringing up saying they'd seen Toga/dumped him outside some gates, so they could claim the money. Unfortunately it is believed the thiefs in this case were inspired to do so by the recently released "March Of The Penguins" film.
