Now the loverly summer weather is here, time to get the razors out etc (goes for the guys too if youre anything like my hubby !! :rotfl: )

So which do we prefer?? Waxing, razors or creams (Immac etc)

I'm personally a waxer :D

The wife uses wax. I just prefer to be a hairy monster :D

I did wax my hubby once - to try and stop his bi monthly chest shaving ritual - never heard a grown man scream so loudly :rotfl: and that was after 5 beers for bravery and courage!

To be honest I've only ever Razored :p Waxing looks scary *thinks of friends* and never thought of creams...ermm how do they work hah!!

To be honest I've only ever Razored :p Waxing looks scary *thinks of friends* and never thought of creams...ermm how do they work hah!! Creams like immac, basically, you spread it on, wait 10 mins, then wash/scrap off depending on what one you use and it removes the hair that way. Waxing doesn't hurt mind. Well, not for me anyway, and you get used to it after a while - its more the noise that makes you jump rather than any pain.

Ok, I have a mixture here.. I use cream but if I run out then I grab a razor... Or sometimes if I am too lazy to wait for the cream to do its stuff I use razor. Never waxed

Wow the cream sounds easy! Must give that a try one day.. and possibly may try the wax.. I hope you're right about the pain, cause I'll hold you personally responsible :p

Shaving definitely. Had my legs waxed once, never again! far too painful (Have a very low pain threshold I discovered that day! lol).

Have used creams and can tell you, from experience, that its very important to read the instructions, ie remember the time you put it on!

I never shave or use cream now - just waxing all the way for me (including me eyebrows :D )

Not tried threading? In fact, I think you can use threading as an alternative to waxing etc

shaving... i have never tried anything different as my shaver has 3 modes, and my mum doesn;t approve of leg shaving so i can do that and she won't suspect anything

Definitely shaving, can't stand pain.

Not tried threading? In fact, I think you can use threading as an alternative to waxing etc I dont know of anywhere locally that does it, but for me a quick wax tidy up does the job. Only costs a fiver for my eyebrows too, so not too bad.

My cousin does bridal stuff. She's into threading and I can confirm it is painful.

My cousin does bridal stuff. She's into threading and I can confirm it is painful. I've always found that plucking my eyebrows is far more painful than someone else waxing them. Unless I put bonjela on them first that is lol And threading definitely looks far more painful

I always shave... Tried waxing (well sort of.. got a bit panicky and didn't like stick the thing properly :p) and it's alright but I prefer shaving.. I never tried creams though I might do one day lol..

Waxing gives you longer lasting results but still shaving for me :)

I think my dad shaves.. during the summer mainly.. bless him :p

Btw I'm guessing Au Natrel means nothing/natural?

Btw I'm guessing Au Natrel means nothing/natural? Au natrel meaning, you don't shave, wax or otherwise, you just let it all grow :D

Whats threading? Sounds painful from what you've said but i'm just curious.

I swear by waxing but i always have a razor in my make up case just for emergencies

I swear by waxing but i always have a razor in my make up case just for emergencies Taken from an article:

Threading is similar to tweezing except it is done one hair at a time by someone who wraps or lassoes one hair and pulls it out. This is continually done until all the desired hairs are removed.

And yay - a fellow waxer :cheer:

i shave my legs and arms and bikini area! cant stand the thought of waxing.

i do get my eyebrows waxed every 5 weeks, it dont hurt that much and saves me plucking coz that really hurts

Kim

I hate plucking mine but it has to be done as I couldn't stand waxing. Can't stand razors and have to use a electronic shaver in order to shave.

Never tried anything apart from plucking (for my eyebrows that is) lol :)

it depends when i go on holiday i use the cream as it lasts for about 3 weeks so it means i dont have to do anything on holiday lol but at home i shave my legs and my mates have had there eyebrows threaded and said its a lot less painful than waxing your eyebrows

24-10-2006, 21:52
with threading do they put the wax on and then get it of by pulling thread through instead of with a strip and pulling it off quickly ?

Jojo
24-10-2006, 22:07
From what I've seen, threading is where a thread is tied round each hair and they are pulled out individually that way, but anyone correct me if I'm wrong please

This is slightly off-topic but.. which cream is good for hair removal like anywhere or which lasts long?

I personally prefer waxing (for legs and underarms).
Have shaved a couple of times put the results just aren't good enough.
I used to wax before holidays, and use cream the rest of the time, but I have started to brave getting waxed all the time now..
As for my bikini line, I use cream, waxing is supposed to be really painful there.. and besides, too.. delicate. :p
I pluck my eyebrows, I wouldn't be able to stand letting 'em grow til my next waxing appointment.

Have just had my legs and underarms waxed today, actually. :D

And from my experience, waxing IS painful. *Shudders at the thought of going back to that hell-hole again.*

But, like I said, I wax all of the time now (every 6 weeks), so obviously it's worth it.

Yeah, i agree that shaving the results aren't good enough. Forget shaving now, time to start waxing methinks, i have seen the waxing results on my friends and there much better than the shaving results.:)

I couldnt vote, I am so lucky for some weird reason, even doctor doesnt know way,but since I had the change, I dont grow hair on my legs or under my arms. So lovely not to have the worry of what method to use.

So lovely not to have the worry of what method to use. I've always been that way with my underarms :D People are so bugged by it! My legs only need doing every 3 months or so, its just my eyebrows and bikini area that require that small amount of waxing - how lucky are we :D :cheer:

just wondering, does anyone know how long on average a bikini wax will last. I'm going away in 12 days and cant take a razor on the plane. So im considering it.

I've just started epilating, and have to admit i much prefer that. It lasts longer and you do get used to the pain. Though not advised for bikini area...it made me bleed when i tried, so never again!

I normally use the creams as they are easiest and the results are quite good but on Tuesay for the first time i am getting waxed so depending on how that is of what i will use on the future.

When I have a bikini wax, its normally every 6ish weeks Em. Although you will tend to get regrowth after a few days.

Razors can go in the hold in your main luggage still though aren't they? I know they were last year when I went to NY.

I'm pretty sure you can put things like that in your hold luggage, just not in your hand - check out the airlines policy online Em to confirm or give them a call :)

I use tweezers to pluck my underarm hair - been doing that for about 5 years now and the hair is getting finer and takes longer to re-grow. I got used to the pain!! I shave my legs. I use tweezers to do my eyebrows. :)

I had my underarms waxed once and the pain was awful. I'm never getting it done again. I only shave my legs when I'm going out or something like that. The hair grows back so quickly, if I shave them in the morning its regrown by the evening. I had them waxed and it slowed the regrowth down a bit but its too much of a faff.
