Coronation Street star Jane Danson has given birth to a baby boy, it has been announced.

The actress, best known for her role as Leanne Battersby on the show, is still considering names for the child, who was born at a hospital in London.

"It's the happiest moment of our lives," she and husband Robert Beck said in a statement. "We're ecstatic."

Jane, 28, and former Brookside actor Robert, 37, married at a country hotel in December.

According to this weeks Inside Soap they've named the baby Harry Alexander Jack - which sounds alot better than some of the wacky names other celebs have given their little bundles of joy (Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes . . . say no more!, lol).

Leanne will make her exit in a dramatic storyline surrounding Mike's will and departing with something of Danny's that he thought he had total control over. But I can't reveal too much as this isn't the spoiler section.

Jane will return to begin filming at the Manchester-based soap at the end of 2006, after a much-earned rest at home with Robert and baby Harry.
