Coronation Street star Bruce Jones was rushed to hospital after collapsing while filming in the Rovers Return. The 53-year-old veteran actor, who plays layabout Les Battersby in the hit ITV1 show, suffered chest pains while performing a scene at the Granada studios on Wednesday.
He was with colleagues on the set of the famous soap pub, the Rovers Return, when he suddenly complained of feeling unwell, said the spokeswoman.
Concerned producers and co-stars helped him sit down while an ambulance was called.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and examined Jones before rushing him to the Manchester Royal Infirmary for tests
He was given the all-clear by doctors and returned to work two hours later to continue filming.
The spokeswoman said: "He felt unwell while filming a scene. As a precaution an ambulance was called.
"He was taken to hospital but it quickly became clear he was fine. The tests didn't find anything wrong with him."
She added he was working in an air-conditioned part of the indoor set and so the heat was not a factor.
"It was a bit scary for everyone, but we are just happy he is fine now,'' she said.
Doctors believed the pains were muscular in nature, rather than anything heart-related.
