Spider-Man 3 actress Lucy Gordon has been found dead in her Paris apartment, reports Sky News.

The 28-year-old, who appeared as British reporter Jennifer Dugan in the blockbuster film, was found hanging from the ceiling of her home near the River Seine.

"It was a horrific scene. The young woman had taken her own life in terrible circumstances. We are not seeking anyone else. It was a clear case of suicide," said a police officer.

Agents for Oxford-born Gordon have since confirmed that the actress "ended her own days".

Gordon had appeared in over a dozen films, including The Four Feathers, Serendipity and Perfume. She had recently completed work on Vie Heroique, a biopic of singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg currently previewing at the Cannes Film Festival.

"We are devastated by this news. All those attending the festival had been hugely impressed by Lucy's work," said a festival organiser. "She was a star in the making."

Lucy Gordon's boyfriend Jerome Alveras is under suspicion for her death, it has been reported.

According to Perez Hilton, cinematographer Alveras had been arguing with Gordon the night she was found dead in her Paris apartment.

Though it was confirmed by the Spider-Man 3 actress's agents that she "ended her own days", the celebrity blogger has said that he's "received word" that Alveras is now a suspect in Gordon's suicide.

A report in OK! claims that French police have opened an investigation into the death. Gordon's father Richard said that the 28-year-old left two suicide notes - one written to her parents and the other detailing her wishes for the disposal of her estate.

"There is no question of foul play. Lucy committed suicide," he said.
