Lily Savage creator and TV host Paul O'Grady has been taken to hospital after suffering chest pains, a friend said.
The 51-year-old comedian, who fronts his own Channel Four show The New Paul O'Grady Show, was admitted earlier.
A friend said: "It does appear he has had a heart attack. He was taken to hospital with chest pains this morning."
A spokeswoman for Channel Four saidt: "We are shocked and concerned by the news, and along with Paul's many fans we are wishing him all the very best."
In April 2002, the comic suffered a heart attack, and underwent a procedure to widen a blocked artery.
He subsequently said he was reviewing his lifestyle, including giving up smoking "for the first time in my adult life", and joked: "Lambert and Butler have had to lay off 200 staff."
A spokeswoman for the William Harvey Hospital in Kent declined to comment.
