View Full Version : Website Design/Running
I'm serioulsy considering making a james bond fansite filled with information from all the films.
Has anyone got any experience of website design and running a website?
Ive only ever used frontpage and then used online sites like msn groups and freewebs
Has anyone got any advice on software/websites that allow me to create visually impressive websites with no limitations to size or style? Or any information regarding web design/running in general

ive used dreamweaver before whch s quite good but you cant do much wth it plus there are no free trials with it or anything so you have to buy it
In my opinion getting a book out of the library and doing it all yourself is a good option if you have time because then you can have it exactly as you want and you can modify it easily. also, if you did it all on notepad before you put it online then you will have a copy on your hard disk which you can revert to if anything happens online. Also, for photos and videos use places like imageshack and photobucket because then they aren;t taking up space on your actual website storage, so you can put more on. I think that's all the advice I can give. I've done it like this in the past and although it can be time consuming you feel like it's worth it at the end as you've done it all

Ive used Frontpage alot before, for me this is the best one ive found but in College we had to use HTML some of it that i couldnt work out i used Front page for and just copied the code from there but i did learn alot about HTML doing it that way because i could insert a picture or something in front page and look at the HTML for that and learnt alot by doing that.
A good website for web design is moonfruit doesnt have any limits and you can make a really nice site with it.

Macromedia Fireworks is a fab programme. I use it for all the banners and fan art i do. Its really easy to get to grips with. Dreamweaver is quite easy to use as well, from what a remember. Flash is a bit complicated to use, especially if you dont have any instructions, which i didn't.
8 quid though- bargin price!
