The Bill heads to Romania

ITV cop drama The Bill is heading out to Romania at the end of June to film a two-part special.

The trek out to Bucharest will see Sam Nixon (Lisa Maxwell) and Phil Hunter (Scott Maslen) investigating an influx of human trafficking.

A spokesperson for the show told DS: "We’re extremely excited about taking The Bill to Romania to shoot a two-part special.

"The episodes will be following DS Sam Nixon and DS Phil Hunter on an undercover mission to expose a human trafficking operation and will be crammed with action and stunts.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity for all involved and we’re particularly looking forward to collaborating with a Romanian film crew and filming out on the streets of Bucharest."

This is the third time the show has been overseas to film special episodes, travelling to France in 1999 for a murder investigation and, more recently, Australia, for the 'Beech on the Run' episodes starring Billy Murray in 2001.

The Romania special will air in September.

Could be a good couple of episodes although it seems daft to send both DS's away at the one time. Another case of The Bill not following Police Procedure.

I agree it does seem to be an excellent couple of episodes, I think The Bill is good at making episodes origional ie; Live Episode, Episodes abroad.

I think the writers are just using it as an excuse to write in some more Sam/Phil stuff. Why, when an operation is big as it is in the spoiler, would DI Mansen not want to be there himself? And as Alan said, it's stupid having both DS's away at the same time.

This sounds great! :) The Bill heading to Romania is a great and original idea, also there will be lots of stunts too and my favourite two characters from the Bill, Sam and Phil will be in the two part story. :)

It sounds like a good story as well for the two part story over human trafficking, something good to highlight to the viewers. I can't wait until September. :)

i think this looks really good and i cant wait for them to be aired and i think the producers will bring them closer again but i also think they will try and keep a focus on the police side or it would be a waste of time to go to romania as if they just wanted love they could have saved money and done it here

So true samantha nixon, I think although I'd like them to become an item the policing side is going to be great and there's going to be special stunts etc which I think will be amazing.

I think that the combination of an interesting crime story, the relationship developments and the special effects and stunts are going to make it a brilliant episode. I can't wait for September!
