What does everyone feel about assisted suicide?

Is it the ultimate act of friendship or is it too close to 'playing God'?

i think if that person is in pain etc then it is the right thing to do if that is what that person wants,i know if i wanted to die and i asked for help i hope i would get it.
i assume we are talking about if you are seriously ill etc and not just commiting suicide because of depression etc.

you should have the right to do what you want with your own body

Helping a person to die who, for any reason, couldn't do it themselves.

I am in full support of assisted suicide, no matter what the reason, so long as the person is in full consent obviously. I don't agree with the law agaisnt it.

i think it will always be one of those taboo subjects, i am in support of it too as long as all the people involved are totally sure what is to happen after the event ie they will not be slammed in jail for manslaughter

Do you remember Dot in Eastenders? She tried to go to prison because she felt so guilty after helping Ethel to die.

Oh yeah, poor Dot.

Suicide is one of those delcate subjects that people don't really talk about. But it should be. I'm in support of it too, as long as said before in this thread, you don't get sent down for manslaughter or something. If that person wants to die, is in full consent and feels that this is the way to go. Then of course. But not if for depressional reasons :nono: that is thier choice and it is un-fair to get you involved in that.

Was young then, when mum and dad used to watch it but I remember bits of it.

I did a speech in school about this. I think that people should have the right to control their own lives and so should be able to be assisted in dying if that is what they want. If somebody is in intolerable pain or have a terminal illness or something and they think their life is not worth living I don't think it should be anyone else's decision to tell them they can't die on their own terms, and with dignity.

i agree that if someone is dying and are in a lot of pain and they want to die then i dont see a problem with you helping them. id want someone to help me if i was in that situation
