Finding a twelve year old boy with gun shot wounds in the shoulder throws the Sun Hill team into a nerve-racking search for the culprit and the weapon. The atmosphere at the station is tense. Superintendent Adam Okaro (CYRIL NRI) is faced with the challenge to uphold the MET’s reputation – an enraged public has gathered on the estate. DS Samantha Nixon (LISA MAXWELL) and DS Stuart Turner (DOUG RAO) are stuck with a victim who insists on hiding the truth from them.
Close by, PC Lewis (AML AMEEN) and PC Roger Valentine (JOHN BOWLER) get into a hairy situation on their door-to-door investigation into the shooting. The fiery attitude, with which Lewis fearlessly enters a dodgy looking squat on the estate, provokes yet another clash between the two officers, with Lewis dismissively belittling Roger’s approach. Lewis ends up being held at gun point by a teenager, but as if this was not enough pressure on Roger, yet again, he has to face the hanging issue of his post-traumatic stress syndrome. Will he deal with this?
Back at the base, PC Will Fletcher (GARY LUCY) and PC Emma Keane (MELANIE GUTTERIDGE) are called out to solve a burglary. Will is in a good mood, as Emma’s ex has withdrawn the allegations against him for punching him to the ground in the pub a few nights previously.
In the course of the investigation into the break-in it becomes apparent, that Will has regained his courage, showing renewed interest and making a move on Emma. While she accepts an invite for a drink that night, a sneaky kiss in the corridor is interrupted by the sudden appearance of Inspector Gina Gold (ROBERTA TAYLOR). Emma, however, is thrown back into turmoil when her ex turns up at the office with an invite for a drink. Is it the new adventure with Will she will choose or her old love Matt?

Full of life, the new trainee DC Kezia Walker (CAT SIMMONS) arrives at Sun Hill and is placed under the watchful eyes of DC Suzie Sim (WENDY KWEH). None the less, Kezia dives in at the deep end to an enquiry into a rape case. Only small pieces of evidence emerge during a day of painstaking investigation, but neither of the two police officers give up. Although Suzie at first dislikes her role as a mentor, she soon finds a like minded colleague in Kezia and is not the only one to be impressed…
A call-out about a burglary takes PC Tony Stamp (GRAHAM COLE) and PC Will Fletcher (GARY LUCY) to see Mr. Wheeler (KEN CAMPELL). The eccentric pensioner re-tells the course of events involving a garden fork with alarming zest. But when Tony decides to safely dispose of the garden fork in the garden shed, he finds himself in tricky position trapped by a fierce monster and potential accomplice to the burglar: a dog. But will the animal eventually allow the officers out of its guard and lead them to the offender?
Back at base, the local press has run a picture depicting Super Adam Okaro (CYRIL NRI) losing his temper with a local resident in the context of a shooting incident the previous day. DAC Georgia Hobbs (KAZIA PELKA) makes it clear to Adam: either he makes an official apology in a press conference that day or he will lose his chance for promotion to Borough Commander. Emotions are running high on all sides, and there is not much time for Adam to make up his troubled mind…
PC Will Fletcher’s (GARY LUCY) pride is hurt when he finds out that PC Emma Keane (MELANIE GUTTERIDGE) stood him up the night before, and he ends their simmering flirt. His anger gets aggravated further by Matt’s (MARK DEXTER) appearance at the pub that night with a triumphant smile as he takes Emma out for a drink. Is there some truth in his gut feeling about Matt’s deviousness?
