Una Stubbs has joined the cast of EastEnders.
The actress is to plat Aunty Caroline, Honey Edward's (Emma Barton) Aunt who arrives in Albert Square to help Honey prepare for her wedding to Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick).
Aunty Caroline is outgoing, eccentric and vivacious and, as Honey's mother died when she was born, has served as a surrogate mother to her and is consequently very protective.
Not only will there be tension between her and Billy, but also between her and Peggy. She is protective of Billy so the two women will go head to head.
Nicky Henson will also to return to Walford as Jack Edwards for these episodes. Una met Nicky whilst acting in The Soldiers Tale at the Edinburgh Festival and they have always wanted to act together again.
Barbara Windsor and Una Stubbs have known each other since they were teenagers and appeared together in Cabaret.
Of her latest role, Una said: "It has been a life-long ambition to be united on screen with Nicky Henson and Barbara Windsor who are two very good friends of mine. I'm delighted to be joining the cast of EastEnders, having been a fan for many years."
Una made a guest appearance in Miss Marple in February and has just finished filming the Catherine Tate Show. In 2005 she played Duchess Olivarez in Michael Grandage's Don Carlos.
Una will start filming in June and, appearing on-screen in episodes which will air in August.
