Last night's launch show was the most watched ever, according to early ratings figures.
An average of 6.9 million viewers - a 30.6% share of the available audience - tuned in to see the new crop of contestants enter the house between 9pm and 10.15pm. Last year's opening show managed an average of 6 million and a 29% share.
Ratings peaked at 10pm with a hefty 8.15 million (36.7%), over a million more than last year's high of 7 million.
The success also spilled over to E4, where Big Brother's Big Mouth recorded some of the channel's best ever ratings.
The inaugural edition of the Russell Brand chat show had 1.83 million viewers and a peak of 2.32 million.
Live streaming also proved popular, with an average of 479,000 viewers between 10.45pm and 2am.
