I agree 100 % with Gary on this occasion. EE winning the BAFTA was a travesty.

Emmerdale 'woz' robbed! :(

Agree with Mr Bushell. EE should have won the Childrens section.

Yes I was aware about Emmerdale. :)

Yes IMO Corrie deserved it more than EE, but Emmerdale deserved the BAFTA more than both.

For me it depends what the period they judged it on was. If it was 2005, I think that was quite a good year. However I haven't enjoyed it very much this year and am rapidly going off it.

I don't watch Coronation Street so can't really compare with that though from I've seen I haven't really liked, but I am getting quite into Emmerdale recently. :)

So I wouldn't mind EE winning for the storylines of 2005, but don't think they deserve it for 2006 so far.

If any soap deserved it then it was either Emmerdale or Hollyoaks (if they had been nominated). Definitely not Coronation Street, which I found dire for most of last year.
I still think EastEnders was quite good though with the murder storyline.

Hollyoaks has no chance of winning any major awards as long as the power 3 are around. Theres more chance of Brookside scooping an award...and that isnt even on air anymore. :rotfl:

I presume this BAFTA that Eastenders won is for 2005, if so they deserve it, as they had some fantastic storylines with Den/Chrissie and The Mitchells.

Bry you watch some episodes of Hollyoaks from last week. To me, it was up there with the top soaps, especially on Friday's brilliant episode.

I agree Friday's episode was superb, as our many episodes of Hollyoaks but they will NEVER win awards becuase the panels consider the show teen orientated rather than a soap, so they dont take it seriously. And in awards based on the public, not enough people watch Hollyoaks for them to win.

How ever much they might deserve awards they NEVER WILL.

The Mitchells were one of the main reasons why EE did not deserve to win a BAFTA. Lets see we had Phill the Dogger who had been banged to rights committing an armed robbery, possession of a loaded firearm, escaping from lawful custody, assaulting police etc each offence for which he should have went down for many years, then we had Gwant who too was on the run in sunny climes only to return to prop up the ailing soap. Then of course we had the second coming when Den was resurrected. All totally pathetic and far fetched improbable storylines. As others have already said Emmerdale should have been nominated and should have won. What poor taste the Academy has shown. No doubt the BSA will be similar when all the ee fanatics start their multiple voting on the web site.

i agree as well, i dont think its been consistantly good for it too win an award, but they always do.

Yes it has had good storys with Noddy and Phil coming back but others have made me swith channel so i dont have to watch the boring characters.

I doubt multiple voting will be submitted. Won't they have a system where they check the IP address and just take the first vote?

eastenders totally deserved to win a bafta it has worked so hard to improve the storylines to suit other people it is an amazing sopa and ottally deserved to win. who would have wanted emmerdale to win??? that isnt even in the same league! and coronation street isnt much better!

How ever much they might deserve awards they NEVER WILL.Well i'm sorry Bryan but it really frustrates me that Hollyoaks is one of the few soaps to deal with key issues and never get any recognition for it. Just over the past year alone, the soap has covered Bullying, Murder, Date-Rape, Alcoholism, Teacher/Pupil Relationships, Post-Natal Depression, and most recently Cot Death. Now you tell me what other soap has dealt with all that over the past year?? And that's not even to mention the huge list of issues that Hollyoaks has covered over the past 10 and a half years.

And yes, I admit that it does have its pantomine characters and stupid storylines that need to be got rid of and addressed. There's no denying that. But make a few changes to the soap and give it a prime-time slot (not half 6 when everybody's getting in from work and having their tea  ) and I think the ratings would rise and it would eventually be up there with the top 3 soaps!

Rant over. :)

. who would have wanted emmerdale to win???

Quite a few people on here and other boards. At least the acting is good and the storylines realistic. It had a fabulous year.

dont get me wrong Chris i agree with you entirely, I have seen some superb issues dealt with in Hollyoaks that deserve recogniton. The soap that can be good when you remove the pantomine characters/storylines out of the equation.

I am merley stating how the panels and the majority of the public wont vote for hollyoaks, which is a shame for the reasons you have stated. :)

I thought EastEnders was quite good last year- it certainly picked itself up after a boring 2004! Although i think Hollyoaks should have been nominated, they had a great year last year!

I thought Corrie should have won the BAFTA but i wasn't that bothered that Eastenders won because they had a fantastic year in 2005 with the Chrissie/Den story and the Mitchells return. :)
