View Full Version : Using Cardiff for London- do they get away with it?

They were saying on "Doctor Who Confidential" last night, about how they use Cardiff for most of the scenes in London. That reminded me of one of the confideitals from Series 1 when they said it was too expensive for them to film all the London scenes in London, so they use Cardiff.

They put London Underground signs up, replace my welsh signs with more Lonon signs, put Red Telephone Boxes up, and even super impose famous landmarks into the backgrounds of shots (They did that with St Pauls Cathedrals on last nights episode)

So do you think they get away with it, and make Cardiff look like London? Would you have noticed if you hadn't seen confidential last night?

i wouldnt have noticed that at all, it really looks like London. It looks good all the same.

I wouldn't have noticed. I have never been to London but the trademarks, make it look like London.

I havnt noticed so far. and last nights eppisode was in a parralel universe so id have expected diffences

I knew ages ago it was filmed in Cardiff, right from the beginning in fact. Why? Cos if you live in Wales, before every episode it says "Made in Wales, by BBC Wales" or something like that!
