Nicole Richie has at last revealed the reason behind the rift between her and long-time friend Paris Hilton.
The pair co-starred together on The Simple Life, but had a very public falling-out in January 2005, but refused to explain the feud.
Richie now claims that it was her experience going through a drub rehabilitation programme that caused her to cut her ties with Hilton.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, she said: "When I got out of rehab, I had to figure out what path to go down, and part of that included taking certain people out of my life."
She added of Hilton: "I just decided I didn't want to be her friend anymore. We're just two completely different people; we don't have that much in common."
