Casualty star Georgina Bouzova has spoken about her current cancer storyline on the show.
The actress, who plays nurse Ellen Zitek, was asked by producers to cut her hair shorter for the emotional plot.
"My long hair had always been my crowning glory," she told The Mirror. "I thought it made me sexier. I've never had it short and always hid behind it when I was feeling insecure.
"But having short hair has given me much more confidence - and more sex appeal, too. I'm going to keep it like this. I might even take it one step further and go brunette."
Bouzova was inspired while filming the storyline by cancer survivor Gena, a friend of Casualty producer Jane Hudson.
"I spent hours talking to her," Georgina explained. "It was completely humbling and I was in awe of her strength and courage. Having never known anyone with cancer before, I didn't really understand it. Cancer was just a word I couldn't relate to. Now I feel so lucky to be healthy. It's made me appreciate my life so much more."
