They totally slated Ross kemps acting skills on the radio this morning, saying about his continuous one eyebrow raising and smirk that he does and the nodding dog head thing he does.
So i was wondering since his return to EE has your opinion changed of him and his acting skills? Forget the looks if you like that kinda bald look lol and think of the acting for a minute.
The big question is:Who is the better actor in your opinion? Ross Kemp or Steve Mcfadden?
I choose Steve!

Ross Kemp. Hes made a name for himself outside eastenders. Hes great in ultimate force.

Well Ross has better looks ! Steve's storyline puts him in a better position to show acting skills.

I'm torn! Ross is the better looking, and he's got a really great charisma. His comic timing is excellent.

But then Steve has been in it more than Ross has, and has had some brilliant storylines, which have really shown off his acting ability.

Can't decide at the moment! I'd love to see some of the action they had in the 90's. They are terrific as a team!

Ross is by far the better actor - all Steve did when he was out of EE was do pantomine and present that "hard man" show on Sky One - yay - not

Well it's a difficult question, Steve has recently shown various emotions through EE and showed everyone what a good actor he is, but Ross is a great actor too. Choosing between the two I would say Ross Kemp.

I would say out of the two Ross was the better actor, while both were away from Eastenders Ross was the one who made a more succesful career in staring in a number of dramas. But all Steve got offered was pantomines

I
honestly think it is all to do with looks etc the reason being why Ross left ee and got more parts then steve,it doesnt take a genius to work out who is the better looking one.Ross' only succesful prog has been ultimate force hasnt it and that gang thing isnt it? Shoot me now before this lot get me!!(Ahhhhhhhh chance runs off to hide.)

I say Ross throughout the entire time he has spent in Eastenders including all the early stuff he has had some really good storylines and played them wonderfully, Steve has done great to of course but it has to be Ross for me.

Have to say Ross Kemp. I wouldn't miss Steve at all if he took an extended break from the show like Ross has in the past.

Ross, cos his acting skills are more pronounced , and not "soap operaish" he has been in other TV programs and his skills are honed. Even the way he reads his part as Grant is different from the rest, his expressions,, ohhhhhhh by far hes better !!!!!!!!!!! Steve could take lessons from Ross and never come close,,, ok I am biased !!!!!!!!:rotfl:

im basing this purely on eastenders, and i would say Steve, becuase Grant is past his prime on the show, he has become steortypical now and that is just boring, Phil is showing all different sides to his character now, especially with the superb Ben storyline.

Ross, there is no question, he is the best.

I voted for Ross Kemp, although I do think he plays Ross Kemp in eveything. I saw him in Ultimate Force the otrher night, as his acting was no different from when he is Grant!!!!! I only voted for him becuase he's better looking than Steve! How sad.

I couldn't really vote for Steve McFadden, as I haven't seen him in anything else!!

Based solely on EE, Steve is the better actor.

I'm not that bothered about what else they've been in. A) Just because they've been offered different amounts of shows doesn't mean a lot. Orlando Bloom has been in a number of films, it doesn't make him any less of a bad actor. B) Ross Kemp plays Ross Kemp. Every role I've seen him in has been Grant Mitchell with a different name. Not denying he does it well, but that's all does.

Steve for me is able to show lots of different sides to Phil -- even when he's been a complete b*stard, like with Dennis's death, he can still draw your sympathy in and show Phil's side of things.

I personally think Ross! Although there isn't much in it!

Ross is obviously seen as the better actor out of the two as he has made it outside of Eastenders with Ultimate force. In Eastenders I'd say Steve as he is having the better storylines where he can show his true acting ability, whereas Grant is just bedding all the women and providing some of the commical moments. I suppose Grant isn't being given any real storylines to speak of because he is not staying whereas Phil is. Have to be honest Phil has always been my fav of the two, you love him one minute and hate him the next.

So if we're talking Eastenders then it has to be Phil. (Steve)

Also, to counter the argument that Ross has done more programs outside EE than Steve -- Ross was away for 6 years, while Steve was only away for 2. I believe Steve was always intending on coming back and was just taking a break, so he wouldn't have been able to be signed up for any long running programs or a golden handcuffs deal with ITV like Ross was.

I would say that Steve is a better actor than Ross to be honest, but they are both great actors :)

That is correct. Ross left Eastendrs 6 years ago with the intention of not returning and he wasn't lured back easily it was lets say "costly" and "Double standard" To be honest I don't think Ross will stick around in Eastenders for long, Ultimate force is doing very well and there has been series after series of this, so as long as this is successful I think Ross will stay with it for the time being and then move onto new dramas. He may well already be thinking along these lines or may be considering coming back to Eastenders more "regularly" until his next "big break". Reason I'm thinking this is after watching Ultimate Force last week, Ross looked like he was taking a back seat in all the action as a new "leader" was brought in. I like Grant's new man image and his interacton with Jake but I'm not entirely sure that I want him back full time.
Apparently Ross and Steve do argue a lot and maybe this is part of the reason why they have been "separated" on screen.
With regards to Steve, yes he always intended to return originally I believe it was after one year but due to the storylines this return was delayed. I don't like what I have heard about Steve's personal life, this has put me off him a little, but hey it's his business not mine, but I really like the character Phil I just can't put my finger on what it is about the character but he is one of the best Enders has as far as I'm concerned. I don't know if Steve was offered the same terms etc as Barbara and Ross, I thought that it applied to all three but I'm not so sure now. Anyway Phil is a good strong character whom can work well on his own or with his family. Also Steve and Joel work very well together as do Ross and Joel.
