i dont know if anyone knows this or not but i read on a healthy quiz that the average person goes to sleep every night in 7 minutes! i dont know if im the only one to find this really surprising as it always takes me much longer than 7 minutes, anyway i was wondering how long it usually takes eveyone else lol as surely it must be longer than 7 minutes???

it takes me much longer than 7 minutes, first I have to have my kiss goodnight from the dog,if I want it or not :rotfl: then I lay there, for ages so I put on the radio and thats it I get involved in listening and usually takes about an hour for me to drift off to sleep

I normally lay awake for at least an hour, with things running through my mind, about what i was meant to do during the day. I worry about my mates a lot too, so i end up ringing them all up during the night, just to check how they are :rotfl:

Normally takes me about an hour, or more. Definetaly not 7 minutes!

I normally go to bed and as soon as my head hits the pillow iam a sleep I would say it takes me about 5 min to get to sleep..
My partner is the opposite he lays awake watching tv till about 3 in the morning as he carnt sleep.. if he turns tv off he just lays awake it takes him a few hours to fall to sleep

Normally I'm out within 5 mins easily, but when I've gone though some periods of stress it can take me hours and then its only light sleep.

It depends on how tired I am. I normally take at least 20 minutes but if I'm really tired it can only take about 5 minutes for me to fall asleep.

it depends. if i'm stressed or theres stuff on my mind, thats the time i sort it out at, but if i don't have anything to think about i just get to sleep immediately

It takes me ages to get to sleep, even if I'm really tired. I used to be scared stiff of going to sleep when I was about 10,still a bit creeped out I think.

Why would you be scared of going to sleep?

unless im really really tired, like ive been out doing something all day and dont go to bed til 2am then i can normally fall asleep quite quickly, normally though it takes me ages to fall asleep, about 1hr or 2, ill just be lying there, sometimes not even thinking about anything and it can sometimes get annoying! although for the last few days ive got to sleep quite quickly, not in 7mins but in about 15 - 20mins, im not sure why that it though cos i havent been overly tired when ive gone to bed?

Depends if i'm listening to music or watching a dvd. If i'm watching a dvd i get really caught up in it and don't want to go to sleep but if i'm listening to music it takes me about ten minuets or something.

I know this topic is kinda old...

I recently discovered I suffer Insomnia.... pills don't work... and strangly on the alternative therapy route it doesn't work either - Obviously

I take around 2 hours to get sleep... Though because I have depression and high paranoia at the minuet it does take a lot longer for me to drop off...

I started going all weird when I read that average 7 minuets thing... I thought I was a right odd weirdo not getting sleep... But I've found my reasons for it.

If anyone is worried. I say pop along to your doctor, they may be able to help, by setting you up with a routine or sleeping pills... depending on how bad it is...

If I can't get to sleep, I go have a nice hot shower. Then plenty of deep breathing and before you know it, I'm in the land of nod.

I don't sleep until the early hours, usually between 12am - 2am. It can take me up to three hours on a bad night to drop off. Classic FM is great to relax to, it's my saviour when I just want to sleep and its some ridiculous time like 4am. I sleep fine during the afternoon though which is weird.

Herbal remedies don't work and my GP won't prescribe sleeping pills because my insomnia is due to an illness. Routines aren't really an option because I go through periods of lots of sleep during the night, no sleep and an average nights sleep. I also have regular nightmares, I had one this afternoon so I don't really fancy going to bed just yet, I do occasionally take co-codamol when I want a decent nights sleep because it makes me drowsy. I know I shouldn't but its no fun being awake all night.

Right now I'm mentally wide awake but my body is tired and I can't stop yawning. I think it'll be another couple of hours at least before I sleep tonight :thumbsdow

Yup, I'm a night owl myself. But thankfully I can drop off quickly. Time to grab a chicken curry, but more net surfing and then sleep

Omg.. I take around 2 hours to go to sleep once I get into bed.. I thought it was pretty normal.. Does that mean I might have insomnia? Same thing happened last night, usually happens on school nights. Help?

I sometimes have terrible trouble getting to sleep....especially when feeling a little stressed. Though there are times when I am just sooo tired that I am a sleep as soon as my head has hit the pillow.
