SHANE Richie is over the Moon after fiancee Christie Goddard gave birth to a boy yesterday — St George’s Day.

The former EastEnder, 42 — who played Alfie Moon in the BBC soap — was thrilled at becoming a dad.

And patriotic Shane is thinking up good English names for the little lad born at 2.10am in St John and Elizabeth Hospital, St John’s Wood, North West London.

A pal said last night: “Shane is overjoyed that the baby was born not only on St George’s Day, but also on Shakespeare’s birthday.

“He’s thinking a good English name would reflect the baby’s birth date — like George and William.”

Christie, 28, had their baby on the birthday of Shane’s agent Phil Dale — who is to be godfather.

The pal added: “Shane joked that he’s been asking Christie to hang on for Phil’s birthday. Phil is delighted — it’s a fabulous birthday present.”

The couple had a quiet day at the hospital yesterday with no celebrity visitors at their own request.

I'm not a parent myself, but I think everytime is bound to be special! And it's his first child with the person he's seeing now.

I read in a newspaper that they're bickering over the name so he's being called 'the boy' at the moment.

I read 'Hello' today, and the baby boy is called Mackensie (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling) Blue Shelley Roche. According to the magazine she knew what it was called at her 20 week scan, when she found out it was a boy. They kept that close to their chest, didn't they?!

One of his middle names 'Shelley', is named after her sister who died 4 days after he was born. Roche is Shane's real surname.

I read on another board that the child was called Mackensie, but Shelley?! What sort of a middle name is that for a boy?!

An unsual one, but as I said he's named after her sister who died. She had spina bifida and it seemed they were very close. She wanted to make her sister godmother. I suppose that was the next best thing.

My friend did the same when her daughter was born, she named her daughter Laura Andre, after her brother who has a decease and will not grow to see an high age. I think it is rather sweet!
