Channel 4 has commissioned a fourth series of Shameless after David Threlfall agreed to reprise his role as Frank Gallagher.

The new run of the outlandish drama will air from next January in its same Tuesday, 10pm slot.

"The quality of the writing from Paul Abbott and his team has kept the series thriving and made it one of C4's great home grown drama successes," said Francis Hopkinson, senior commissioning editor of drama.

Several new characters will be introduced in the new series, while storylines will be expanded to outside of the Gallagher clan.

Thats great news hopefully all the cast will return even though Debbie going to Emmerdale and Lip in the Street

what so debbie and Lip won't be in the 4th series of shameless??

The actress who plays Debbie is suppose to be returning to Emmerdale full time and the actor who plays Lip is in the new show on BBC1 called The Street which could be returning for a second series. I don't think Shameless would work with Debbie and Lip gone with Fiona and Steve also gone.

I know originally it was about the Gallagher family half of them will have gone if Lip and debbie leave i still cant believe that no one knows that Ians gay yet either! we found out in the 1st episode and STILL no one besides Lip and fiona know! lol :searchme:

I doubt the street took months to film so we'll jus have to wait and see not sure about Debs though hope she does return!
