Josh Schwartz told my colleague Ileane Rudolph that he's planning a major "reinvention" of the show next season. For starters, Kaitlin (Willa Holland) will move back to town full-time, sparking a "repopulation of the high-school universe," Schwartz says. "You will see a whole new generation through Kaitlin's eyes." The "older" set, meanwhile, will segue into a "twentysomething world beyond just the bait shop. There's a whole young-adult world in Newport for our kids to get in trouble in." Schwartz won't guarantee that the core four — Seth, Summer, Ryan and Marissa — will all be back, but he did share this most welcome scoopbit: Autumn Reeser (Taylor) will be made a series regular. "You can anticipate a more fully evolved, romantically evolved version of Taylor in Season 4."

The actress who plays Marissa Mischa Barton apparently wants out her contract for The OC to pursue movie roles. The is rumours that she will be killed off in the series finale or start of the new series.

Q: Hey Kristin, I absolutely love The O.C. I just got to know: Is it really ending this season?

KV: OK, if you’re an O.C. diehard, you might want to sit down for this. My sources on set are telling me that everyone who works on the show is expecting The O.C. to end this season, and as you probably heard, it’s only getting 16 episodes instead of 22. It’s also up against Grey’s Anatomy and CSI, so that’s pretty much a death wish and Fox is not expecting it to do well in that slot. Now, if by some chance, it does well in the ratings – and the producers are obviously going to do everything they can to revamp the storylines -- The O.C. could be back for another season, but probably will never have a full 22 episodes again. That’s what I’m hearing. So perhaps you might want to find a new O.C. show… like Laguna Beach! I’m just sayin’! It’s good stuff.

Later, Kaitlin and the twins go to a party on the beach where she leaves them stranded in a car on the beach. i seen episode 1 last night on tg4 (an irish station). it showed a good bit of seth, ryan and summer so i'm sure they're going to be a big part of it. also kaitlin and taylor.
it was a bit weird, ryan's gone back to his old ways, summer's in college, seth working in a comic shop but still good. kaitlin is going to be a right little madam.

Lol, i didn't see it but it's on channel 4 on sunday so i'll watch it then, they have to make it good this series to finish it off for good though.
