Tom and Katie welcome baby girl

Actress Katie Holmes has given birth to a baby girl with fiance Tom Cruise.

The actress had the child named Suri in Los Angeles on Tuesday and a spokesperson for the couple said they have "joyously welcomed" their baby.

The baby is Holmes's first, while Cruise has two adopted daughters from his marriage to Nicole Kidman.

Suri weighed in at 3.4 kg (7lb 7 oz) and was 50.8 cm long. Her name means Princess or Red Rose, depending on which language you translate it into.
Hollywood actor Cruise and Dawson's Creek star Holmes dated for two months before becoming engaged in June 2005.

Cruise says they plan to marry in late summer or early autumn this year.

they said in the end that they weren't definatly having a silent birth it depends on the mother. The religion doesnt say that you have to stay absolutely silent just that you have to try. Suri is a very cute name. It does seem like she's been pregnant forever

Sorry folks I have very very very little respect for Cruise, its all fine and well he can spout all this nonsense about "quiet birth" "no drugs" and he was going to eat the placenta,, but saying he will respect Katie more if she goes thru the birth QUIETLY,,now us ladies who have had babies know we can not just lay there and not wimper :wall:

Would love to strap him down and pull something out of him and see if he does not "cry out" :rotfl:

Was reading on the internet that Katie has agreed to not talk to the baby for a week in lines with scientology rules too............

I think some one said before if that is the sort of stuff you have to go through to have Tom cruise as your man then I will stick with my Tom :)

Just read in one of the entertainment e zines that Tom has to turn in all the hospital records, recordings, and videos to the "board of directors" for approval ( approval of what,, I am afraid to ask ) This religion is not my cuppa tea.. but then again.. we are all individuals,, whatever floats your boat !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeh probably lol i mean i cant see female fans sticking with him if he is trying to get Katie to 1)have a silent birth (i mean ive never had a baby but ive done loads of research and even i know its hard to be quiet) and 2) not use drugs (also hard to do for some.
