Actress Natalie Cassidy may be smiling now, but she won't look so happy when she discovers her character Sonia Fowler is about to be murdered – by her jealous husband Martin.
Producers appear to be killing two birds with one stone – quite literally – after Natalie and James Alexandrou, who plays Martin, both announced they plan to quit the Square.
It’s thought Martin will either receive a life sentence for killing his wife, or commit suicide in the wake of the murder. “Martin’s been left humiliated and heartbroken by his marriage bust-up. A crime of passion is a logical progression,” an insider told the Daily Star. Hmm, personally we’d have given marriage guidance a go first…
Scriptwriters are working on the idea that Martin hits the bottle over Sonia’s affair with fellow nurse Naomi. Finally, he plucks up the courage to beg her for a reconciliation – but she rejects the idea out of hand.
