I don't work for the council but I was on strike today because I am a unison member. It just wasn't council workers on strike but members from eight unions who pay into the government pension scheme that allows them to retire at 60 if they wish. the government has now back tracked saying that its against age discrimantion and that people should work to their 65 if born after 1954 and if they want to retire early then they have to take a huge paycut in their pension. So yes I do support the strike. It gave me no great joy at loosing a days pay and standing in the rain this morning at a picket line.
i support the Strikers 100% the govourment should Listen
